People who didn't grow up watching Crosby will never be able to appreciate just how dominant he was. While he certainly had his fantastic 1v1, 1v2, 1v4 etc highlights coming off the rush, he wasn't pretty and consistent like McDavid is now. Crosby was dominant in the corners and down low, plays that you'll rarely be able to find on highlight reels. It's a highly underappreciated area of the ice. And Crosby was better than anyone. There's a reason why he is often referred to as a "Superstar Grinder". During his prime, Crosby was nearly impossible to knock off the puck down low. It was something special to watch.

I was working on the broadcast team during the Olympics and those of us who weren't working the game were watching on the screens in BC Place before getting prepped for closing ceremonies. That moment was incredible, everyone just lost their minds. So many great memories working the Olympics but that was obviously the pinnacle of it all.

You know what's unfair about this gold medal? The country barely had time to celebrate it. The NHL resumed its season as soon as the FOLLOWING EVENING (Red Wings vs. Avalanche was scheduled for March 1st), which meant these players could only give a quick "whoopty doo" before it was back to their respective teams.

I've seen several championships in my life living in Toronto during the 90s. But I was too young to go downtown when the Toronto Blue Jays won the World Series in 1992 and 1993, and I would only hear of older people tell of the epic party downtown when Joe Carter walked it off for the Championship. I also missed the 2002 party because I was watching at home. Sure my family was home, but no one watched hockey, let alone sports except for me. So I made it a point to go to Yonge-Dundas Square to watch at least the third period. I started the game at home, got on the streetcar and listened to the game on radio, and was on time to watch the third in downtown Toronto. When Zach Parise scored, you could hear a pin drop. When OT started, everyone was reacting to everything. As Bob Cole would have said, "Everything is happening". When Crosby scored it was so loud in Toronto the sound echoed for quite a distance. Chants of "Sid The Kid" "We Got Gold!" "CAN-A-DA!" and the random singings of "O Canada" broke out. I left the party early to go to Church, and as expected it was sparsely attended since most of the congregation went partying. After church I went back to Yonge-Dundas, and it was just jam packed. Random hugs, people high fiving, some climbed on top of light posts, street signs. The party went on for a full 12 hours. Fun times in Toronto.

I was (still am) IN Vancouver when that goal was scored.... The entire city erupted like an earthquake. Even the Vancouver cup run that following year wasn't the same (although burrows OT goal was similar it was for the city- not for the country)

Thank you for highlighting Iggy’s involvement. Most people forget what took place before The Golden Goal, and that really bothers me, particularly because I’m a Flames fan. There would be no Golden Goal for Sidney Crosby if there had been no Golden Pass from Jarome Iginla. Iggy is in the Hockey Hall of Fame for a reason, because he is one of the best players to ever play the game, and he shouldn’t be discounted by being forgotten.

lol still hurts to watch but man what an amazing game, and Olympics that was, but I love hockey and when i see a great moment i cant deny it, It was an epic hockey moment. Even with being from the US playing hockey growing up and still play now and again to this day, and I live in the DC area, I still called my buddy who is Canadian who lives in Pittsburg to tell him congrats lol, He def asked me how much did that hurt to say, but said it was one hell of game that could have gone either way. And if was playing on his summer Tournament team that year lol. That was some good time Hockey times back then.

I never noticed that Miller was preparing for a poke-check, thinking Crosby would pull it across to the backhand, but instead he just rifled it immediately catching Miller off guard.

Hands down the greatest moment in Olympic sporting history. The Canadians come into the gold medal game as the hands down underdogs after battling their way to the finals. While USA dominates Canada in the prelims and cruises their way to the finals. Only to have their Olympic dreams shattered by one of the greatest players of all time on home soil!

Jesus Christ man get to the point lmao. This video just dragging and dragging when it could’ve been so much more concise. This man had to do a deep dive after every word lmao. This is one of those videos where people will stretch it anyway they can to get over 10 minutes.

5:45 If Patrick Kane was an Xman, his mutant superpower would be having the puck land right on his stick in the last few seconds of a close game, and then creating a play to tie it up or win it. I've never seen anyone do it as often as him.

I remember that day!!!!!!!!! I worked at Simply Thai Restaurant in downtown Vancouver, mere blocks from Rogers Arena. Every customer watched the game on the large TVs on the restaurant's walls. When Sidney scored the Golden Goal, HOLY FUCK, every customer was so jubilant and cheering and jumping on the dinner tables, including myself!! We danced and yelled so loud while clapping and ......YELLING SOOOOOO FUCKEN LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!! The restaurant owner loved it so much and decided to shutdown the restaurant to go party with everyone in the streets! Shut down within 20 minutes and booted everyone out of the restaurant. We all partied, high-fived, sang Oh Canada and cheering NON-STOP for at least 10 hours that day until sunset!! FUCK, what an incredibly historic day!!!! I CAN'T EVER FORGET THAT MOMENT IN HISTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH CANADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Being American i wanted nothing more than to beat Canada. It was a crushing loss because Team USA was so close. However looking back it was an amazing win for the home team and Crosby is such an all time great and class act, I'm happy for Sid

Zach Parise should actually be a Canadian player , his parents were Canadian ,his dad played for Team Canada in the 72 Summit Series. I guess we have to give the US a player once in a while ie the Foligno brothers ,Brett Hull ,Adam Deadmarsh ect...
