Never tried green beans myself. Sounds like a good one for next spring. 😎

You should! Most of my plants were eaten by a mystery animal, but the couple that survived did well.

Any tips on how to MAKE green tomatoes ripen? Every year it takes forever for mine to turn red! I always seem to have a bunch of green ones when the frost hits as well.

green tomatoes can be ripened off the vine and in many cases will taste just as good as those ripened on the vine. When ripening, fruits produce ethylene gas which promotes the ripening process. Warmer temperatures also speed up ripening. So the trick is, just before the first frost pick all those unripe tomatoes and place them in a cardboard box or paper bag (if in a box place newspaper over them). Put them in a warm area (70-80F) and they will start the ripening process. Once ethylene gas starts being released, the process will take off. To speed up the process, place a ripening banana or apple in with the tomatoes to jump start the ethylene production. It will work in a plastic bag or tote, but moisture can't get out making mold or rot more likely. One more thing...keep the fruit from touching one another and they are less likely to rot as well.

@@HobbyFarmGuys thanks! I cut off all my excess foliage hoping that may help speed up the process. Hope I didn’t ruin all of them. One plant is just stem and tomatoes, no leaves at all 😂 we will see what happens in the next few days.
