For anyone interested…… “The Nutbush” dance was taught in Australian schools as part of a physical education commitment. It quickly became an institution and is the Aussie “Go To” song to get people up and moving at office parties, school formals, weddings, parties and anything. Always in honour of the great Tina Turner.

So odd…but fantastic! I love this song. My Grandma grew up in Tennessee near Nutbush. We Americans loved Tina Turner, but to see this dance is cool. But unusual. Peace.

In the 1970’s a health campaign was started in Australia by the education department. They had a list of dances that all kids had to learn at school and this one was originally called the Madison but it worked well with Nutbush City Limits by Tina Turner and the song stuck. Another dance was the Bus Stop.

In an interview w/Oprah, she said that but 3-4 songs, all this singing was slavery, to her. She had to take responsibility, as she supported a whole structure and many people. During and after Mr. Turner, slavery all along. When quitting all this, she felt an endless peace and freedom. So, while filling up your empty existences, we must be aware that many ric( and successful artists are suffering, while we are having good time.

Practical view from a woman who knew what made the world go 'round. On a miniscule by comparison scale, I know myself that I dedicated nearly every Friday, Saturday, and sometimes Sunday nights, to travelling and playing my guitar and singing, for quite a few years. 47 weekends/year on avg., for a long while. I never got "rich", but in a similar manner, others depended on me and the guys to keep it going, so that they had income as well. And the countless faces in dance halls, gin joints, theaters, fairgrounds, etc., were having a blast, and we were actually working our asses off. Don't misunderstand, I had an absolute blast, and most times, it was like stealing money! But, we all sacrificed in other aspects of our lives to keep it all going. I kind of know what Tina meant and felt.
