The thing with Edwards is that she was homeless, so she had no insurance. The hospital therefore rushed her discharge when she was was clearly not fit for being discharged. They put their profit margin before a human life. Then the police officer took the hospital's word for it and used it to justify ignoring obvious signs of her being in severe need of medical help. If the hospital wouldn't take her, there really not much else he could do, but his attitude was absolutely inexcusable. If it were me, I wouldn't have ignored her obvious medical condition and went in to tell the ER nurses that either they treat her or whoever's in charge is going to face charges under Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act and if she dies from lack of life saving treatment that she obviously needs, a case can be made that her death would be the result of 1st degree murder, that is murder committed with malice and forethought. And think about how much that'll hurt the hospital's profit margins if it comes out they're playing god and intentionally letting people die for money. Frankly I'm surprised the family didn't sue the hospital too.

Because i never perceived the police as a threat. I've probably been stopped 20+ times. In the case of Ms Edwards: The term “patient dumping” refers to certain practices some healthcare providers use to remove uninsured or lower income patients from their facility. These include discharging patients prematurely or refusing to care for them at all to reduce the inherent financial risk their treatment represents. This is EXACTLY what the hospital did.

Proper thing is to have ems on scene to assess her. That first one is no doubt due to burn out from over worked and underpaid positions in all emergency services and hospitals as well as a lack of medical knowledge those offers have. I could hear that wheeze a mile away which stems from constricted airway. To their credit, no one here knows Mrs Edwards personally and being that ERs are the dumping grounds of all problems in a city including lack of resources for homeless people she's undoubtedly a frequent flyer and I'd imagine her situation was very much downplayed.

Just because you know you did nothing wrong doesnt mean the cops do and it doesn't give you a right to resist while they do an investigation. I don't agree with the cops persuing the minor charges after clearing him, but they had a lawful right to do so. They didnt handle the situation well, but they didn't handle it unlawfully.

Seeing as you can't resist arrest until you're being arrested for something else. He'd committed no crime to be arrested for in the first place, so the resisting arrest charge is nonsense. Because the arrest itself was nonsense. You clearly don't understand how the law works. His case is clear cut and any judge operating within the realms of the law will see they had no right to do anything but ask for his ID and run it, there was never a justified reason to go hands on or even ask him to step out. *Unlawful requests being ignored do not result in lawful punishment.* It's not a crime to disregard a police officer acting outside of his position or making up laws. In the incident with the dog, that cop was so stupid he couldn't tell that the dog was NOT in attack mode! The ears would be back, the lips curled to bare the teeth, and would be charging faster and in a lower stance... If anything, Dixie was simply excited and just wanted to check the moron cop out and perhaps get a pet or scratch. Stupidity is not an excuse, and the shooting was not "objectively reasonable". For the dog one, the cop may have had a slight overreaction but that was a reasonable reason to open fire, the dog charged at him, it would be the same if a man (or woman) charges at an officer, [for those about to say “CouLDn’T tHeY haVE usEd tHE TaZeR?!” No he couldn’t have, it would have taken a significantly longer time reaching for the upper chest instead of the hip, (where his firearm is at)] It’s also required by federal law to restrain your animal in public places. Police get away with everything for some reason. There's a story of a 16 year old girl who got raped, and afterwards she ran to an officer who took her back to a hotel and instead of helping her after she was raped, he raped her again. His punishment? He had to move to a different department. Same job, no fine, he just worked with other people. That's all.

@@lunchbox1553 defund the police means removing tasks that police do now to better suited people instead. f.e. welfare checks, or moving someone from a hospital to a homeless shelter. It often also refers to spending less money on military grade material and spending that on proper training instead and have less, but higher quality police. Never noticed how when something youtube worthy happens, there are always tons of cops present standing around doing nothing? Yep. Post 1960s militarized gun grabbing establishment has declared war on its own people. "The drug war" violates the posse Comitatus act and also the 4th amendment. Gun grabbing obviously infringes on the 2nd, and they also punish people for flipping them off which violates the 1st amendment. The establishment has turned modern police into an occupation force. The scary thing is that most of them are completely ignorant to the constitution. They feel they have to stick together instead of protecting the supreme law of the land.
