I feel like this deck needs a 1-of Dopplegang somewhere to allow us to combo kill after we ramp and don't have enough lands left in deck to kill.

Replacing the Spelunkings with Deepcavern Bat would also let us survive quite a lot longer and know what our opponent is working with. And we can potentially Dopplegang the Bat to empty our opponent's hand and swing for lethal.

That's all I could think of, but Fargo isn't a horror movie. My other idea is that it's not specific to any particular idea but instead more around the general idea of "deadly gardening 'accidents'" like in Fargo.

yknow hedge shredder also combos really well with insidious roots, you would want to stay more in golgari but you could have an insidious roots deck with the combo, you just have slower mill but otherwise usually have slightly weaker redundant mill pieces pieces instead of doing it all at once. You also have a backup combo that contributes to making sure your vinelasher can get back on board with osteomancer. I mean vinelasher isn't the most in place card but you can always add archeologist and make it more in place.

I threw the Hedge shredder/Spelunking combo into a Simic mill deck with 8 landfall crabs. Haven’t really had a chance to play with it yet, but it’s hilarious to goldfish
@minecraftfanaaron

Aftermath analyst would probably be a good backup plan for hedge shredder; if you got the vinelasher already, all youd need with analyst is having milled a bunch of lands and then playing and activating the analyst for 6 mana total to win on the spot; that seems better than needing to sit there waiting for the shredder every time lol
@LordZurkov

Lumara is the price as Analyst + activation, except you also get a big body. It's already in the deck, so 🤷♂️

I've been playing a deck with all crime lands, raven of fell omens and freestrider lookouts as extra vinelashers/ramp, and a hedge shredder-breach the multiverse combo. Shocks and desert's due for removal/crime on opponent's turn. The Gitrog ravenous ride for extra mid game combo. It's really strong :D.

Not like this it isn't. Very slow deck with no blockers, heal or cheap removal. Even the combo is very fragile to any interaction. Needs a backup tactic like aftermath analyst and something for vinelasher. Also sideboard needs to be full of anti-aggro pieces. If vinelasher is stone brained away, this loses to everything. He got lucky with the matchups in this video.

Spelunking.... Yeah, in my experience it is always juuust not worth it. Like, it sweetens up so many actions but always ends up being optional. It often ends up being a win-more card that you need to take turn 3 off to set up. I always end up cutting it.
