Before that movie came out. There would be people singing that song just like that. The first time I actually heard the song with my dad on the radio. He was signing the song just like the movie. We stopped at a light and the other car full of people were all signing the song with the windows open. They were signing with my dad in the next car. When I saw the scene. It was like art imitated real life!!

Awe the FM radio days. When you had 3 to 5 stations that all seemed to take commercial breaks at the same time. Very good catch in the 80 and 90s the car next you had the same station on.

Freddie died exactly when Freddie wanted to die. He was once asked what Queen would be doing when they were all old and gray, and Freddie couldn't even fathom it! He couldn't see himself bald, old, and fat someday and didn't want to. So take comfort in knowing he left just exactly when he wanted to leave. ❤

I know he's internationally known as Freddy, but in my family home we kept calling him 'Bucktooth' or 'Bulsara' My dad was at school with him at St Peter's, India. I also knew the man who was then, Bucktooth's boyfriend. The sad part is that most of the boys knew the music by heart but wouldn't want to acknowledge that he was one of their number for many years due to internalised homophobia and the fear of hiv. The few times I did hear them speak about him they all agreed that a) he was a musical prodigy, b) he sucked at football and c) that boy needed braces.

I remember hearing this fact on the Queen wiki years ago and initially thinking it was just made up. Then I hear it from Nick, who did the research on it and put into a perspective that makes it clear how joyful of a moment it actually was to Freddie and the positive impact it had on the band’s popularity.

Also Class of 1994. In my small city, the local rock radio station doubled as the classic rock station so I knew this song during the movie. That said, I was so amazed / confused when I first heard it (I was ~13?), I had to call the radio station to ask "what????".

I remember when they re-did the music video as a promo for the movie and combined scenes from the original music video and scenes from Wayne's World. It wouldn't be until I watched "Champions of the World" Queen documentary that I learned that wasn't the original Bohemian Rhapsody music video, and also, Queen basically started the concept of the "music video" with their album and tour promo video of the same! Queen have ALWAYS been INNOVATORS!!
