Hi Dr Lam, I had a hair transplant done with another Doctor in N.Y and I'm on my 9th month after my transplant. Although I' m very happy with the results so far, not to pick on my doctor, but You were the doctor that took your time and posted all of your videos of patients questions and concerns. You were right on the money with patients seeing far better results in variations in thickness in the 9th month. Thanks for peace of mind on my hair transplant journey Roy from Boston,Ma.

thank you for the questions but just to clarify i am a hair surgeon not a dermatologist. these are questions better served directed toward a dermatologist.

Before finding this video, I was becoming concerned about my results. Did the grafts take? When will it grow? Why am I not seeing changes at 4 months? Your video answered all of my inquiries, and for that, I thank you Dr. Lam.

Thanks Dr. Lam. I wish I had found your videos and practice sooner than I did. Going to the right surgeon is paramount. Hopefully others will find your information also. I appreciate your time.

Dr. Lam, Is it normal to have a few grafts that have been poking through the skin for around 4 months but not growing. If it's not normal, what does it mean? Should I remove them myself? They appear to be dead or still sleeping. It's been nearly 7 months since my procedure. Thanks,

I'm not asking for a diagnosis. Only an opinion from a specialist in the HT field.

@DBEN153662 very hard to say. you must speak with your physician about it. plus, hair can take a while to grow even up to 18 to 24 months.

hi Dr. Lam, thank for upload the video. I had a procedure a years back but the result is unsatisfactory. can u imagine the grow ratio is just 5%. what is your recommendation shall I go for second procedure or wait for 18-20 months.

+Farooq Shah obviously, i cannot say what happened. in general, i am very confident for a high growth rate. one of the reasons for that today is the use of regenerative medicine techniques like PRP, ACell, HypoThermosol, ATPv that can truly help a patient who would have lower growth to have a much higher success rate. Not everyone grows perfectly but 5% is a pretty unusual situation.

+Samuel Lam Thanks for ur quick reply. My doctor also said that it's unusual situation and I'm the first patient didn't get the result. He said I have to go for second procedure, but he didn't give me any solid reason why it's happened. And what is the guarantee my second procedure will be successful. that's y I asked ur recommendation to make up my mind. once again thanks for your quick and informative response.

Did FUE hair transplant, #650 grafts in February 2011 and today is 10-02-11 and all i can see is about 50 to 60 hairs and most are thin. I am so upset ! In case it doesnt grow what is the standard ethical response from the doctor: "too bad" or "will do it again at no charge or minimal charge"? Im 45 years old and bald completely on top

I've made a few attempts by email and received no responses. I was told by phone to give it time, but that was only by the receptionist. Thanks anyway.

my opinion may not be relevant since i am not seeing you. i would say that hair has a variability in growth and i sometimes do not see growth for 9, 12 or even rarely 18 months.

Hey I see that it's been 12 months you have had your surgery. How is the outcome. I'm planning to go for this but I first want to talk to someone that underwent with this procedure. Do you think transplantation is a good idea?

as mentioned, hair growth times are variable. you really should speak with your surgeon. there is no diet to really help hair grow faster. sorry.
