Keith had made the comment when hearing Jimmy had a new band and heard a couple of the tracks that were recorded (before the album came out). Richards had stated many times he liked the guys alright in Zep but not the music. Same goes for Pete Townsend, who always ripped on Zep music. Interesting thing is, Page had played on early Who and Stones albums as the producers didn't like the respective bands guitar playing. Add to that, the Who almost lost Entwhistle and Moon who were fed up with the WHo's infighting and almost joined what would become Zeppelin. In each case The Stones and The Who, were two of the biggest bands at the time, both getting knocked off the top of the mountain once Zep hit the scene. More than a few in the business have said the negative comments towards Zep's music was sour grapes and being a bie jelly.

Keith could play drums with anyone and it would be a blast.. The destruction of equipment that fed the flames of rock and roll happened quite by accident. On the far other hand Jimmy Page quite strategically evolved rock music and was extremely powerful in the direction of rock shows.. you may be too young to remember when small venues turned into stadium festival seating.. it wasn’t a Neil Pert acoustically perfect setting in the beginning of rock shows.. Richard’s can play Robert Johnson songs on an acoustic guitar and they sound great. Keith is and always was a great guitarist, he chooses to play simple riffs because they fit the groove of the song better. Keith is the driving force behind the sound of The Rolling Stones. Jimmy Page is one of rocks most amazing guitarists, an amazing composer first, almost all songs recorded for albums had multiple guitar parts, but he always figured out how to play it live on his own! Mighty impressive! I’m glad they never brought in extra guitar players! That would have destroyed some of the magic!

I love the pic at the end with Ronnie Wood and Jimmy… although I was very surprised that Jimmy was smoking a cigarette, I was under the impression that he quit smoking around the same time he stopped drinking… although I guess when you’re in the company of notorious chain smokers I suppose it’s polite to partake if offered.

Led Zeppelin performed "Achilles last stand" at Knebworth in 1979. It's on film. Doesn't seem to be any problem playing it "live" then! Jus say'n.

All the people arguing about which is a better guitar player are missing the more important point: These are two of the most successful guitar-riff-writers of all time. Nowadays, intermediate guitar players can learn to play most JP’s solos, but nobody is coming up with catchy guitar riffs like JP or Keith did consistently, album after album. That is the genius part IMO.

I was a huge fan of Led Zeppelin from their first album. I finally got to go to their concert in April of 1973 at the Atlanta stadium.I was really excited to attend and couldn’t wait to get there.I am sad to say I was terribly disappointed that it was the most awful concert I had ever attended at that time. I attended a concert in Atlanta at the Fox Theater in November of 1981,same scenario, all excited and happy to see the band. It turned out to be a horrible experience. The band was awful, very disappointed with the whole thing. That band was The Rolling Stones! I have been to many concerts over the years and saw some really great shows and bands, but these were 2 of my favorite bands and I was crushed and very disappointed with the performance they both gave.

So the story goes, on the track. Achillie's last stand, at one stage there was 12 guitars playing, yeh that's kinda difficult to reproduce live!

So what do you want to do led Zeppelin what is it you guys want to create. Anyone in the band: We want to recreate something from over 60 years ago and make it really sparkly and neat and good and refreshing and hard rocking. So you want to popularize the music is that what we're hearing. Anyone in led Zeppelin: Yes ,,, we like modern music and that's American music so we're going to try to make it sound like we are right there in the delta, of course we're not really from there but we're going to get you to think you are, is the best thing and so authentic,,
