If youtube keeps suggesting someone/something you don't really care about it is (or maybe was, no idea currently) a way to get the algorithm to stop doing so. There are definitely some youtubers that keep getting recommended to me that I have no interest in. I haven't bothered to go thumb down the recommended videos, but it is (or was) a way to stop getting them.

I'm in IT where we often use a phrase, "don't let perfect be the enemy of good." I recall an interview with Ira Glass many years ago or you talked about some of what he's produced over the years that he remembers much less fondly. He calls it having produced crap but he said that it was important to do so because it wound up being part of improving himself.

I’ve got a guitar with fenland bog oak back and sides. It’s semi fossilised oak which has been under the Cambridgeshire fenland “bogs” for several thousand years. The carbon dating on the batch mine was made from came out at 7200 years. Michael Watts has featured several big oak guitars on his channel. Regards Phillip

I am in the progress of recording my debut album, and most of the songs were written when I was in a really dark place emotionally. Mary I love these, daily videos! Can you please do a video on how you do your sound in your videos? I've an untreated room and I get fierce reverb on my recordings (using a Rhode mini plugged into my phone). From what I can make out, you don't seem to have any or many baffles on your own walls and the vocals are so consistent even when you're out and about. I don't ever see a lav mic on you, so what are you doing?! Lots of love, I'm jealous of your seaside visits. I'm landlocked in Alberta. As a Dublin girl, I miss the sea terribly

I've written a lot of songs from when I was a teen to now, when I am not. Lyrics are always the things I leave til last. If I get stuck, I come up with a nonsense lyrics like "When it's snowing in June/ And I'm stuck on the moon". It sits there until something pops into my head that makes sense. I always remember that Paul McCartney's original title for Yesterday was "Scrambled Eggs". Other times, if I really can't think of a proper line, I'll use the nonsense line I had in my head and let it be. I'm a huge Bob Dylan fan and he had his share of lines that just don't make sense. That's good enough for me!

I've been playing guitar for two years and a half ... I've always tried to write songs, but every time, maybe because I'm afraid it might be bad, I erase everything I've thought about from my mind. Less is more is one of the best pieces of advice for music. Also take a break from songs and revisit them again with a fresh mind. After lots of experience, you always go back to basics. With music, you are always learning new things no matter how long you’ve been at it. Keep every song you write even if you don’t feel it as you can pick of pieces of magic you can build upon. Don’t give up 🙂
