I read about an incident in Chicago in either the 1970s or the 1980s. The new mayor was elected in large part due to him declaring that he had someone who had top-notch snow emergency plans. Shortly after he was elected, there was a terrible blizzard. The citizens said, “Okay, so what are these great snow emergency plans?” so the mayor turned to his guy and said, “Okay, so what are these great snow emergency plans?” It turned out to be a whole lot of nothing. A lot of the pages and pages of emergency procedures were repeating stuff like, “Pay attention to supervisor instructions,” which didn’t help handle snow. When it came to the practical stuff, most of it turned out not to be practical. For instance, when it came to the snowplows, they couldn’t get to most of them. I guess at no point had the snow removal mastermind thought, “Gee, maybe we should make sure the vehicles can actually be used…” Under the mayor’s watch, this guy had been paid a lot of money for plans that didn’t help at all. That mayor lost his Re-election bid; all his opponent had to do was ask, “Hey, remember what happened?” 🌨️ 🥶

@@roryaphunter trickledown was a fallacious name given by the opponents of the idea. We have well over 250 years of economic performance in just our country alone and the economics proposed by those the leftwing tend to disagree with, actually does work. It works everytime. Without fail. Yes some level regulation is needed to prevent malicious intent from robbing the market or what not, but the facts remain that the disparity between the poor and wealthy only got worse everytime a tax system was proposed. Every single time. Britian used to be the richest empire on earth with the highest standard of living during the age of sail and yet their government at the time only spent 3% of their GDP on tax/budget. 3 PERCENT. That was the norm for most successful counties that saw wealth booms. The USs biggest boom when in the 1800s in very much the same situation. There was no wealth tax, inheritance tax, capital gains tax or income tax at the time, and it saw the biggest long term decades boom as well when spending was roughly the same - government acciunts were only 3% of the GPD. This is all public lic record. It's all readily available for anyone to read at any library. You can use the internet if you'd like. As long as you understand the math and know what you're looking at - the facts never change. The 'Reagan' types were mostly right. Even if it was by accident. It turns out my hatred of Milton Freimen was misplaced. He actually KNEW what he was talking about and he wasn't wrong. He might be extreme on the deregulation thing but at the very least, lowering taxes and abolishing a lot of other taxes IS the way to go. There's 400+ years of modern free-market data we can study with the US participating in about 250 years of that data. All the data shows the same thing... Lower taxes are better. Period.
@mangjitnijjhar1390

@@NurhaalLower taxes on working people is good but the rich need to pay higher taxes. You're leaving out the part where we had labor wars from the 1880's to 1920's because the rich were consolidating their power and squeezing people into terrible conditions and then from the 30's to the 70's we had high taxes on the rich and our country had its economic peak where 1 man working minimum wage could support a family better than people today with degrees. The only reason Reaganomics worked at first was because we had so much middle-class wealth and progress from the Democrat policies that they were plundering and now it's really bad for working people and very obviously unsustainable.
