Yeah one or two times I don’t trip but after that, they know don’t come on my bus with no fare😂.

The union told us don't argue about the fare it's the inspectors job to book them. Now it's almost free , never see an inspector. When they start looking for tickets I start driving, you're going to be there 30 minutes each time they play that game. Great video mate thanks for the laughs.

The most common issue for all bus drivers. We’ve seen it all. People geared up in brand new clothes, no fare. People with every bill except a couple of singles, no fare. They even use their kids to justify not paying the fare. I once had a woman and her kid get on the bus saying she had to spend money for her medication at a pharmacy along the route so I let her ride. I picked her up again on the trip back, and she had this look of embarrassment on her face as if she thought another driver would be coming back. There’s a liquor store near the Walgreen’s. I guess the liquor store was the “pharmacy” and alcohol was the “medicine”. At my transit agency in the Twin Cities, during September and October, the fair is one dollar. Mobility/disabled passenger and kids under five pay fifty cents, as well as no rush/peak fares and all express buses and light rail one dollar. Many have told me they appreciate the reduction in fare and I tell them take full advantage until normal fare resumes after October 31st. Of course some are still not paying. When people don’t pay I don’t give them a transfer, even though they tell to give them one anyway. We’ve heard every excuse to not pay the fare, and riders feel entitled enough to ask for a transfer or 24 hour pass. The only excuse I haven’t heard is alien 👽 abduction and I was wondering since you drive in California, known for UFO sightings has anyone ever used that excuse to not the fare?😀

Isn't it funny how people who are doing something wrong quickly start throwing around stuff like "You are so fired!"? I've seen it with patients in EMS, customers in retail settings, etc. Glad you can keep your sense of humor, Keywan. Happy travels.

I actually went into early retirement because both the transport authority and the company I worked for wouldn't support me in my resistance to fare evaders. I was advised that I had to accept fare evaders on board even in cases where they were repeat offenders.

From my view as a rider, Honestly I sort of prefer the ones who just get on, say they haven't got the fare and ask for a ride, then go sit down when the driver says okay. The ones who get on, then stand at the box checking all 47 pockets on their shirt/jacket/pants, then do the little song and dance about, oh shoot I thought I had it, aw man! At this point the driver has been delayed enough and tells them to just get on, ...and then they ask for a transfer. ugh.

I remember when I was a rider and stuck at the Port Authority Bus Station. I used my bus pass to go to NY but did not know it wouldn’t work getting out of there. Instead of hemming and hawing, I walked the 17 miles in shoes. Never gave the driver grief about it. I simply showed the bus pass, explained my situation, was told no and walked. I could have used the veteran or EMS guilt trip. I just walked and spent two days recovering. Going off gets you nowhere. Be humble and maybe you will find a bus driver that’s understanding. But remember, that driver might have had a bad day.

How would you feel about deterring fare evasion with a small squad of courteous, well-trained, handsomely-paid and professional transit enforcement officers, but they must be dressed in the following official attire: Black uniform, tall boots and a cape... all of it in leather

Our agency doesn’t let us enforce the fare. It’s silly because they tell us to quote the fare and try not to refuse anyone a ride. So at this point I skip the unnecessary conversation, hit the free ride button, and let them board.

Be a dick be treated like a dick , i lost my wallet in a bus and someone took it and i was like 40 miles from home with no cash , i spoke with the bus driver he went out of his way to call his depot and arrange it so i can get home (since i had to use three different busses to get home) , bus drivers are people with emotions and feelings too being nice to everyone helps.
