*_Request read access to the database_* 😂😂 As a programmer for over 8 years, relatable 😭

Sir, you have 8 years of experience. I would be very grateful for your advice. I just started learning it and I like it but I am concerned about my health. Can you, please, tell me should I keep going or should I change it? Do you face any health problems, such as blurred vision? Thanks for your answer in advance.
@Danihacs

@@islombekmirsalimov3185 okay, I actually dealt with this when I was programming a while back. I felt like I was powerless, and tired. I was young back then, and I was fearless. Long story short, the morale of this story is that.. Yes, you can continue, but I don't recommend you to continue full-time on your programming career, if you are going eye sick. Go to the hospital, see what's up, maybe get a eye drops, and THEN you continue. It's all about your mental, but your mental is directly connected to your health. Also, C++, Java, Python, and some Ubuntu/Linux is all you need for a regular programming job. Ofc I learned more than 8 languages at this moment in time, but the only issue I got right now is Bad eyesight and Tunel on my hands. Good luck fellow programmer, you can do it.

Yeah. There's an encryption that does that. You could probably access it but only with write access
@dima6488
Жыл бұрын
@@alexisbaliari No it's not and you're spreading misinformation. In fact, PCI DSS encourages NOT storing neither the credit card numbers nor the PAN in the db. You would retain the minimum necessary information required for your validations and either hash or tokenize the rest. Encryption isn't used as it's reversible in the context of access to a full db.
@MasterJudicator
Жыл бұрын
@@dima6488 I think you might be slightly misinformed. In the United States at least, large financial institutions and banks DO hold onto full credit card numbers and holder names for at least a length of time (could be 90 days or longer, depends) But this information is both encrypted and privileged. There are just plain old employees who have read access to this information and it's possible to get this information. This information totally exists in accessible, readable databases. PCI compliance rules DOES dictate the TYPE of encryption measures required to store that information. That information also can, and is, routinely emailed or conveyed over the phone to partner financial institutions in order to conduct business (such as in the case of handling credit card charge disputes, fraud, incorrect charges caused by errors, etc.) The part of this video that is possibly inaccurate is that it would likely not be a "big tech company" that holds that credit card data directly. It would likely be their partnering bank/financial institution. For example: Chime is a popular financial TECH company that provides financial services to their customers. However, their partnering bank(s) "The Bancorp Bank" and "Stride Bank" are the actual PCI compliant financial institutions that would HOLD that credit card number in full, if ever that number was needed. Another example: Apple has a white titanium Apple Credit Card which you can sign up for, manage, and use through your Apple device. Apple works with Goldman Sachs to provide the actual credit card processing service, and it is a Goldman Sachs employee, not Apple, who will be bugging you about your missed payments. THEY have your full credit card number, not Apple. So in conclusion, your credit card information IS stored in readable formats in some places. It IS readable by some people. The relationship different companies in the fintech space can be muddy and unclear, and credit card regulations are actually quite loose and wild-west-y in America at present. There's a chance that 1 person can read your full CC number right now, and there's a chance 10 people can. You cannot know if a given company is using best practices or not. You could take your car to be worked on at a prominent mechanic with a good reputation and great service. Then you pay with credit card. THEIR processor might be some shady third party middle man with bad practice and internal security (lax environment) That processor works with a bigger partnering bank. A single employee is tired and in the process of trying to resolve an unrelated-to-you issue (issue A) they end up requesting the full credit card number and CVV of YOUR card from the partnering bank, because your name was similar to the person from (Issue A) They then transmit that full card number, cvv, and YOUR name over Slack, plain text readable email, or some other service to one of their coworkers, because they are about to clock out and they need the coworker to finish up this task. Their coworker notices that the wrong information was requested from partner bank and manages to re-contact the partner bank and get the CORRECT information. They put in an extra hour of overtime re-doing the work to correct (issue A) and all is well....only they forget to lock their computer on their way out of the office and the cleaning lady sees an open slack chat with a full card number, cvv and name... It's a fictional scenario, sure, but it's possible. This information is both more secure AND less secure than you would think. The best way to protect against this scenario is not to spread that information very wide whenever you can (use minimal vectors of attack for things, like checking out with paypal on sites that support it) or using cash in person. Also you can use things LIKE the Apple card which lets you re-generate a new virtual credit card number in case you believe your old one was compromised. They also have services online that support temporary virtual credit cards, but I have not personally tried or reviewed them and cannot speak to their efficacy whatsoever. Have a great day!
