The only time they used a laugh track was when they were filming a scene that couldn't be done in front of an audience. I have a friend whose son is grown and married now but when he was 3/4 years old refused to sleep at night. They had a living room that you stepped down into with access to a half bath, so they put gates on all the entrances, mattresses and blankets on the floor, moved anything potentially dangerous out and taught him how to put tapes in the vcr and rewind them when the video was finished. They’d set him in the living room with Blues Clues and go to bed.
