i agree...my mum passed away and i was able to get a medium who connects with people who have crossed over and my mum came through. She seemed pretty much the same as did my other dead family members. I think what happens is they become conscious awareness but still hold awareness of their time on earth. But they stay as awareness now instead of having a body and mind. And perhaps they continue advancing spiritually up there or if they want to come back down to advance more they can. Until they reach realisation, which i guess is the ultimate goal for us all.:)

I had a dream in which I spoke to my dead mother. At the end of the talk she said "I will will have to go home soon". Because it wasn't a lucid dream this confused me and before I could ask what she meant the dream faded away. What is curious is that I could clearly see her face and she appeared to be in her twenties. When I relayed this to my sister she said she also met her in a dream and was exactly as I described. My waking feeling about the dream I felt was the reference to going home soon was her rising up still higher than her present place. @@zahra9075

When the body dies, so does the mind, as they both are the same from the perspective of awareness. Imagine the vortex in the river dissolves, there is only the water flowing. The vortex was just an activity of infinite mind. From the perspective of infinite mind, the thought ceases to exist, but from the perspective of the finite mind, you are merged back to the source. Imagine an author writing a novel and thinking about the character in the plot (infinite mind). He has all the knowledge in his head, which constitutes the world itself, characters, events, they are as a meta model with all timelines and alternative plots, based on different events and decisions, all at once held in memory. If he writes, he needs to look at the model, so he creates a window to look at.the world from the perspective of an observer, located in particular place and time. Only then he can traverse it. Then he creates another window from the perspective of a particular character, with specific location in the world and place on the timeline and writes the story as it unfolds, always thinking about possible alternative storylines. If the character dies in the story, do you think the author forgets him completely? He sees the character in his memory and can give you temporary projection from different timelines and alternative storylines, what you wish. There are no minds of people flowing in the river, but just one infinite mind. We are actions of the mind and take various character roles in this story. What is in the awareness? Love, which is knowledge of all experiences gathered from the infinite number of stories. It is the same from the non-dual perspective.

@@messenger8279 I had a car accident in 2012, where another car suddenly hit my front door in full speed. Everything stopped as in the movie, I was able to look 360 degrees in 2m diamater from where I was and also see my own head from behind, scared faces in the other car, although I could not move my body, it was freezed and static. I assume the seeing was with the mind. Just sitting there in peace and somehow knowing everything will be fine. After 15min (my estimation) and thinking all through, everything returned to full speed. Total destruction of my dad's car, airbag shot, hit my head. I was prepared for all this, sitting there so long. I had to kick out the door and help the other guys out of the car. The only fact I know from this experience for sure is: A/ time is relative, B/ we perceive with our mind. Rupert, I appears that you are struggling to avoid directly stating that self-awareness or the individual mind ends upon death. The best analogy is perhaps that of a television set. Our mind is like the programming appearing on the screen of a television set. What happens when the TV set is smashed? Nothing. The program is no longer on display in that individual set but nothing happens to the programming that is invisibly transmitted from the broadcasting station. The difference between the human mind and a television set is that the television is designed to be tuned to a small number of channels (13 when I was young) whereas the human being is designed to receive an amalgamation of countless channels (or "aspects of God"), hence each human appears unique.

@@versoturner5777When I was a child, for a while I lived in a huge old house in the countryside. It wasn't one of those nicely done up houses, it was missing some windows and was freezing cold, especially in the winter. Here in the UK it's not uncommon to live in a house that is a few centuries old, as was the case with me. When I was about 5 or 6, I would feel a small child come and cuddle up to me in bed sometimes. There were no other children in the house this could be. I wasn't really scared of that but I was scared in general in that house. When I was older (18 years old), my boyfriend at the times house was haunted, which the whole family knew about apparently but neglected to tell me because they didn't want to scare me. So I found out by myself and it was awful because this ghost really didn't like me for some reason. It used to do things like stomp up and down the stairs if ever I was alone and one night tried to pull me out of bed. It regularly used to sit at the end of people's beds. It felt like you were being watched all the time. It would crash paintings and ornaments to the floor. It absolutely terrified me and I hated being in that house. What scared me the most was that I couldn't understand why beings in the afterlife hated me. I wondered at that age if I was going to hell when I die. Years went by and I became an atheist and did anything I could to find reasonable explanations for the things I experienced because I didn't want it to be true.

Hi Rupert, ever since I started watching your videos, I was able to tap so much into my consciousness and discover that I am Awareness and it all felt so good, but now my mind seems to be clamping down really hard, and it's like there's an entity in my head that's constantly over-reactive and causing all sorts of clenching or tightness in my body, it makes me unable to burp or fart or poop easily, it's amplifying the pain I feel from all sorts of things and feelings, and it's affecting my life really much. When I try to talk to this entity, I always get the same answers, it wants me to suffer, and the reason it is here is because of all the consciousness work that I did, and that it is killing it, so it wants me to stop, but I have already stopped for so long, almost weeks, but this entity is still here, and it's just making life harder and harder by the day, I'm like having constipation and bloating just from the fact that mind is so tight that it won't let me release, and my entire life is now centered around finding ways to burp and fart and poop. No matter how hard I try to make peace or be friends with it, it just stays silent, and gives me no answer, and whenever I even think about anything that's slightly triggering to it, like abiding in God consciousness, or meditating, or simply being jolted by sudden movements, and noises, it just goes absolutely nuts, and clenches up completely, making the top of my head feel like there's a clamp on it. I really need help on this, have you or anyone here encountered such a phenomenon before? And what would you guys recommend I do to put an end to this? Is there a way to come to peaceful terms with it? A way for it to just let go if I would stop the meditations? Do I just give it time to calm down? It seems worse and worse each day. Do I keep on practicing meditation regardless of how painful it is and maybe it will be gone forever? But it just feels worse and worse the more I do it, and it always comes back, and it feels wrong to be forcing things like this. I feel like my life is really going to end if I don't find any solutions, anyone who has any idea what's going on and what I should be doing, I would be so grateful to hear from you!

The entity is your ego. By resisting it you will strengthen it. It is confused and, as far as it is concerned, the only way out of its confusion is death. @@christopherbond5130 Krishnamurti taught that there are ways to have a life out of the conflict ( confusion ), without the death ( most people only perceive that on the time of death ). Confusion is born when the observer identify itself as different from what is being observed. The right way, should be observe everything without any judgement. Thought ( the intellect ) is responsible for this division, it creates images and we live hiding ourselves behind these images. This is ultimately, a trick of the ego, who needs constant security and reassurance. The way out would be through meditation, but not these common tricks people call meditation. The real meditation is the deep dive and discovery of the self, and ultimately, getting rid of all conditioning, seeking, beliefs, instituted religions, and see "what is", never trying to reach or project what or how it should be. 👍🙏

Do you fear death? Is it, even intellectually, something you think you might "transcend" if only you can practice correctly or "learn" something you haven't yet? I'm not being "funny" but I don't think you have discovered that "You" are "Awareness". These are just words. I have found some Vajrayana Dzogchen texts useful in aligning "intellect" with "feeling" (although it is my path and, of course, may be next to useless for anyone else even if it is actually useful for me and I'm not deluding myself - which in some way I probably am). One of the clearest expositions (I have found) is The Nature of Mind; The Dzogchen Instructions of Aro Yeshe Jungne by Patrul Rinpoche if you're interested. Its intriguing and I at least found it very calming to read. And have you ruled out any actual physical causes for your suffering this way, like diet or underlying stress? Anyway, whatever happens I hope you feel better!

This is fascinating. I have had numerous past life recollections, and of course where are those located? In my mind. So clearly, at least some of the mind survives as a mind and stays in a state to be able and ready to localize again in a body. The mind is an energy, it is an energetic construct, a multisensory super computer, a conduit between the soul and the body. Clearly, when the body dies, the soul has no need of a mind in a state of pure consciousness. But most of us reincarnate again and again. So, since the purpose of the mind is to serve the soul in its functioning in the 3D, what happens to the mind between lives? This is actually a broader question than might meet the eye. The fact is that the body and mind and everything else in the physical and metaphysical don't actually exist as we believe. Everything exists and seems to persist because we keep creating it and re-creating it moment to moment. Living is an act of will. We are alive because we will our body to live over and over, moment by moment. We can will our bodies to die, dying is also an act of will. Souls create, and we create energy and then will the use of the energy. A body is energy which is congealed into matter, frozen into density. In death, that energy is withdrawn by the soul and redirected, perhaps reabsorbed. The mind is a less densely constructed energy, it is not in solid form, though it can be experienced as feeling somewhat solid when we feel energy blockages or persistent unwanted thoughts. But the mind is also created and re-created each moment. So when the body dies, I think that since the mind is not needed when the soul is not incarnated, it is still re-created moment to moment, but may be somewhat dormant and not a focus until needed again. ❤ ❤️

The answer is no, your identity does not die and this is because at death consciousness does not return to an infinite state. Consciousness continues to create your soul with its identity in duality, it’s just that without the constraints of the body it is massively more expanded eg., remembers other lives etc. This is why people who experience NDEs report a sense of oneness, because that massive expansion or integration from the perspective of the embodied person they were is an expansion towards oneness, but it’s not complete. It’s a relative oneness, but still duality in which there is still separation eg., they see loved ones and there are still choices and concepts etc.

The truth is that we don't know what happens to the mind when we die. It is no longer conscious and we don't know where it is stored. The person is the mind not the body. The body is just a vessel to interact with the physical world. The mind is created by God who gives it a body then breathes his Spirit into it and it becomes alive. Once the body dies the Spirit goes back to God but we don't know where he keeps the mind/consciousness. Remember when Jesus returns the mind/consciousness is given a new body and is made alive again to meet Jesus. We lay where we fell. If you die on the highway your mind remains there. If you die in hospital your mind remains there. The body that is taken to the cemetery or cremated is empty, the body's mind/consciousness remained somewhere else where it died. We don't know in what state God keeps the mind when the body dies. But the truth is that the mind is not dead but it's not conscious either. There are three parts to a human being, his body, his mind and the Spirit of God. Imagine a computer, it has all its hardware, it's brain is the CPU hidden somewhere which controls everything. But it still can't work without power/electricity. Your mind is the CPU and the electricity is the Spirit of God.

There were no neurologists at Blake's time. The development of neuroimaging means we see with increasing breadth and depth the activity of the mind. I would suggest there's no reason to believe that memory/mind survives the dissolution/disintegration of the brain and body. If we take Rupert and Bernardo's premise that the body is what the mind looks like from an exterior point of view as true, then the appearance of its disintegration would correspond to the disintegration of that mind or 'whirlpool'.

Yes. How would he explain aspects of the mind that have distinct neural correlates? Take memory, for example, which seems to have a critical role in creating one's sense of a continuous embodied self-even if we take that self to be "illusory" in a deeper sense. There doesn't seem to be a mechanism explaining how that condition would be preserved after death, and his talk of angels seems to be grasping at straws.

It emanates ALL, permeates ALL, and is ALL. It is You, and it is Me. It is your Mom and Dad, Dog and Cat. It is the Stone on the Ground and the Rain in the Sky while also being the Sky and Ground themselves. It is the Bumblebee and the Garden, and it is the Meal you ate for dinner. It is even the act of eating. It is the Book you are reading, and the Video you are watching. It is the Rage inside the Beast, and it is the Beast itself. It is Sadness, and it is Laughter. It is all the gods, devils, and demons. It is God and the Devil. It is all the Prophets from every Story ever told from around the World, while also being the World, and Stories themselves. It is All things Bad and Good. It is Hate, and it is Love. It is All Points of All Spectrums, while also being the Spectrum itself. It is literally Everything and Nothing simultaneously. It is a Paradox.

There is a mind or conciousness that has many levels or dimensions. The higher dimensions can visit the lower dimensions but the lower dimensions can only be aware of the higher levels. A 3d mapped mind cannot totaly understand a 5th or 6th dimension. The lowest part of the mind was designed to start working upwards with the help of the higher dimensional thought. Unfortunately the lower part of the mind became distracted by its self awareness and seemed to seperate into the thought of self and wholeness. This part of the mind had a higher part which the Torah or bible describes as Eve for simplicity of understanding. Eve passes thought to the symbolic Adam who thinks and works out what Eve gave as an Ideas. Adam has lots of thought connections and the more connections, the more energy that is stored in those connections. Adam dwells on an Ideas and his mind thinks about it. He daydreams and uses characters and scenarios to work out the answers to Eves questions. The thoughts are us. Adam keeps the answers in his memory and uses them as a tool for questions in the future. Information feeds back and forth and was done to enable learning. The projected thought developed its own awareness. Thats us again. It worked out that it could ask the mind for energy and information and that the mind would give the projected thought what it needed to accomplish its thought mission. It also became aware that it could gather other unaware projected thought to help it assume power of the mind. It dictated to those around and the mind. By this point, the higher Eve is looking inwardly but is being starved of energy as the lower mind starts to dominate where the energy to manifest thought actually goes. Adam just goes along with the proceedings. So we are the seperated projected thought of a collective mind we cannot see which also has a higher mind that thinks both inwardly and outwardly. To overcome this problem, the higher dimensions forced through what we call a soul. It attaches to the mind and projected body and this reconnects the lower mind to the higher dimensions. When the body wears out, the soul continues to develope its consciousness in the dimensions we cannot see. Adam allows his projected thought to extend its thought by having children. This renewed thought hold the memory of the past and can move forward in thought. To prove this, look at where your thought comes from. You cannot. Thus, to see your thought you project your thought outwardly. Its what you see. The garden of thought that we sowed the seed in and then look to see what happens. The garden of Eden was safe but we have nightmares that manifest. Simply because we are not aware of the truth. We dont see it.

A human being like you would be fascinated if "died" under the influence of Amanita pantherina (panther cap). This is no joke. If eaten a lot, a human being experiences death as is. All the questions get answered. The death is real for the person who ate these mushrooms so taking them knowing that is a heroic act. I myself doubt if i ever have courage to experience this Amanita death ever again. When you are there, there are no doubts you're gone forever.

Consider one's body as a personal, private Facetime or zoom session. If the device (your body) should fail (die), all that is lost is its connection to the experiential session while it was active. @SUBJECTIVE FOCUS you demand proof from me yet provide none of your own. You're desperately looking for a purpose in something in a sub-optimal rules/experience intellect could never process. The "no one dies" proposition denies the birth/death cycle which then implies no one needs to be created as we're all statically here anyway. Logically, without a creation, who could create the Cosmos - and who created the creator, who created the creator of the creator, etc. That makes as much sense as the Jehovah's Witness rapture concept. That everyone who's died will return. But there is not the space for them all on Earth. Stop looking for a banal explanation of the infinite. And let's not start with quantum theory. What makes you think you are ever awake, you need to study some real philosophy, not snake oil.
@zenscapeUKmedia
Жыл бұрын
@SUBJECTIVE FOCUS Let's abandon the snake oil and return to the original question as I'm chasing your straw man here. The question was 'When the body does, does the mind die too?" Let's look at this. Starve the brain of oxygen and it dies. Fire a bullet through it, and it dies. Develop Dementia and it dies. So at that level, when the body dies, the mind dies. It no longer exists, it decays and rots away. Amen. This is easy to prove as you simply perform an autopsy. The body can function without the higher cerebral stem/cortex (brain death) but the brain cannot survive without the body. But was the question about the mind metaphysically, for example, the "soul"? Now we make a jump from the physical (that which can be proven to exist (matter based) and metaphysical (that which can be suggested but not proven) Metaphysic is a branch of philosophy. What the author of this channel is presenting is his philosophical take on the metaphysical realm. He has no access to a hidden truth because the realm has no truth. Go read Kant's Rationalism versus Empiricism to learn more. It is neither true nor false by definition as we can only prove what is matter based. Everything else is theoretical. The presenter is merely giving you a lesson written by Kant. And there, I have to leave it. plato.stanford.edu/entries/rationalism-empiricism/

Anybody can clearly understand the analyzetion of mind given by Lord Buddha. That he says the Mind is a system building up from the moment of birth to the moment of death. No one has a Mind before the moment of birth. Mind acts its own. No one can control. Mind is only build up due to external stimuli (perceptions) through five faculties from the moment of birth. Mind is the store you keep and kept all the memories. No time is taken to store or recall or remind any memory. That is what is call incident of “Akalika”(no time taken) by Gothama Buddha. In a man all the functions regulated and controlled by “Vingnana”. Mind is a one small part of “Vingnana”. Vingnana is already there before you are born. It is the operating system of the human. But mind will start from the moment of birth and everything will vanish at the moment of death. That is life according to the “Word of Buddha”. Nothing remain after the death. Word of Buddha is not in any book so far written. It is only in the people's mind. Word of Buddha is for each and every mankind.

@SelfRealization3880
Жыл бұрын
The simple answer is that our mind, meaning our consciousness, has never and will never "die" the way the physical body dies. When the physical body dies, we - the "Self" or soul that animates the physical body - live on in another, more subtle body. This is called by some, the "astral body," composed of light and energy. We then live in the "astral world" for a karmically determined period of time before our desires and physical karma draw us back into another physical vehicle for another earthly incarnation. A great saint named Swami Sri Yukteswar describes the astral world and body in modern language and great detail in a chapter called, "The Resurrection of Sri Yukteswar" in the book, "Autobiography of a Yogi" by Paramahansa Yogananda. Hope this helps. God bless your journey.

Sure. We are not the body or the contents of the mind. We are not even the thinker. We are the knower of the body and the knower of the thoughts. (However it is also true that there is no difference between the knowing and the things known. It is one and the same.) When he talks about "de-localization" what he means is that the specific "things known" which refer to the body and the thoughts - they disappear when we die. But since we were not ever those objects (in the grammatical sense - as in the object of our perception), the knower remains the same as always. It's just that the patterns that happened where your body and mind existed will no longer happen. There will no longer be such a thing to "focus on" by the knowing. It will "disperse" in a manner of speaking. But of course it was never really local to begin with - everything is known. It's just a manner of speaking. The rest of the talk about different ways of existing as non-physical "local" entities in my opinion is the less important stuff, because for the vast vast majority of us, it is speculation and fodder for our imaginations. It is good enough to accept that such things are possible.

Unfortunately, we can't. The only way to do that is by direct experience of death itself. We can only speculate and there are so many perspectives on what death is. Nobody has died and returned to tell us about it. Even NDEs are suspect because they never go past the point of no return. The mind can weave all kinds of worlds as per dreams.
