I was at a show today! Lots of experienced riders on their babies gaining experience! And honestly I like watching them more then the horses that know what they r doing, as I like thinking about now. Because of the experience they r gaining now, imagine them in 5 years or even less! ❤ u did amazing as always amber😊❤

That's why we don't judge riders and horses who have a difficult time like this at competition. We don't know their story, we don't know their issues. I think you handled this gracefully and gentle. ❤

You’re showing such a wonderful example- it’s not about the ribbons and wins- it’s about training your horse to be the best and healthiest they can be! Thank you for keeping me centered!☀️

I love so much how instead of getting upset, you literally took it all in stride and turned it into a very wonderful and productive opportunity. So many people would have gotten angry and reacted. Everyone is allowed a difficult day every now and then and to treat that with grace and love and understanding makes all the difference. Great job Whinny!! 💖

I have been there many times! It’s great that you can make a not so perfect show round into a positive training experience for your horse, and that you were able to stay positive yourself. I have a bad habit of being WAY too self-critical (to the point that my trainer has started yelling at me every time I say something negative about my riding during a lesson. 😂 I’ve just been back riding regularly after a long hiatus, so every time I say “I didn’t ride that line straight enough”, “I should have done a better job of asking for the correct lead over the fence”, “I put my horse on a bad distance”, etc., she has to remind me that I’m building back up from a long time off, and I can’t expect to ride as well as I did pre-hiatus. She also scolds me for not just taking a compliment from her like “that was a good ride to that jump” without countering how I should have done it better. I’m working on being more positive. I’m just SO competitive, even with myself!!😂) But yes, I’ve had those shows which don’t go as planned. Often, me being me, I blame myself. But I have been able to turn a not so great couple of rounds into positives, like “well, my distances weren’t great, but at least now we’ve gotten around this height clear. Next time will be better”.

Good luck! I’ve hosted many IEA teams at my barn over the years, so I’m very familiar with it. First, congrats on making it to Regionals! That’s awesome! Just treat tomorrow like it is any other IEA show, or even like it’s a lesson. Just ride like you normally do (obviously if you’ve made it to Regionals, you are a good rider), and try to relax, ride as well as you can on whatever horse you draw, and -MOST importantly- have fun!! 😊
