This is what so many retellings of Norse mythology leave out, that Thor was an ass hole. He wasn't as bad as Zeus level (to Zeus not consenting wasn't an option) but Thor did some just ass-holeish things.

I'd say most gods of old - be it from Scandinavia, Greece, Egypt or Rome - had some very human streaks, be it good or bad. Which I say, was a better representation of the natural phenomena those gods were made responsible for. Of course the gods are selfish, mean spirited and overreacting half of the time. So we can (in order to have some semblence of agency) appease them with sacrifice and worship. And then - when times go better, harvest is plenty and hunts are bountiful, we know we've done something right and thus can have influence.

Well that is because, much like the Greek Pantheon, In the Norse pantheon, tales of their mythological figures vary alot and are often dependent on where you are as to what kind of attitude is expressed about certain figures, example being Zeus himself. You have the sentiments of worship in some places, others using them as metaphorical warnings about humanity or otherwise depicting them as something people should not want to be. No one telling is typically "wrong" due to this intermingling view of how the lore operates so you can gleam whatever message you wish to take from them at the end of the day.

You left out the part where Tor braces himself so hard for the worm's pull that his feet go clean through the boat's so that he stands on the bottom of the ocean... somehow 😄 This is really cool, Tor's fishing trip was definitely one of my favourite stories growing up ❤

This is an especially lovely piece! Love the way you painted on the waves and the scaly look of Jormungandr! Have you ever done an ink painting based on Aztec Mythos? Like Cipactli, the crocodile god or Queztalcoatl?

Okay, to be clear. Thor is just as correct if not more correct. In modern continental Scandinavian languages yes, it is Tor, however in Icelandic and Old Norse, it is pronounced closer to the English Thor with a trilled R. Now, I’m not saying the Scandinavian pronunciation today is wrong, it’s correct too, but I am saying both are good. And it is never good to assume.

I am seeing some comments discussing the pronunciation of Thor in this video. And I love that you used your native language pronunciation, it is beautiful and absolutely correct, But we need to be clear in that Thor is also correct pronunciation, as it has that Th sound in modern Icelandic and Old Norse, which the stories in which Thor is first and main spoken of is from.

I went between a tree and a telephone pole and then flipped twice the cops said i was very lucky and landed in a brush pile. the roof was crashed too luckly i was able to get my amulet out its in my current car I was also born on a Thorsday ^^ I think its why I like him so much.

In Thor's defence, he was probably still just sad due to that one time he thought he was going to get to hold a cat, but Jörmy was all "nah, bro". People get emotional when it comes to cats. Some handle it better than others.
