In a lot of countries some of the older generations tend to be pretty racist. It's worth remembering that racist theory was still considered "scientific" in the early to mid 20th century, so I can only imagine the people raised in those times would have a hard time breaking free from those ideas, if they ever even manage to. This is why I think better and more varied representation in media is important. Generally, people like to stay in their own comfortable little bubble and their only access to the outside world is what they see in media. And if media always portrays a certain kind of people in the same way, then people will think that's how they all are because they don't have anything else to go on.

I lived in japan for about half a decade and didn't learn a lot of the language since I was always working. I don't know if it was a racist thing or not but I know I only dated one Japanese woman in all that time but my Caucasian friends had them lined up around the block. They were always polite to me wherever I went and I had some Japanese friends but the women just weren't interested in me. What's amazing about my travels throughout that region is that Asian women in other countries couldn't seem to get enough of me.

Interesting what you say about the exposure to people of other races allowing for people to come to have a positive opinion of them. Unfortunately it goes both ways in reality, there are many neighborhoods which you may live in in the USA for example which, are almost entirely one racial minority or another, black/hispanic etc, Rationally you will dislike your neighbors, however I think many people will irrationally begin to dislike the entire race. I know people who have even began to hate people of their own race after living in a bad neighborhood. There is also the case that the actions of even just 1 terrible person can cause people to become racist against that race, this is I think this is where most racism towards white people originates. You would hope people would be more rational and fair, but it's not always the case for every person.

Racism & Racist ~ these words definitions are changing… before the important point is it was used on people that hated others for their skin tone. Now… I don’t know what it is… An example is, if I show a video of a talent show and a man has black on his face, they would call this man racist. But in fact, he’s an elderly Japanese man in the early 2000s. Whose singing “What a Beautiful World” by Louie Armstrong. That he wouldn’t know black face is racist. And that he did this because he wanted to be like Louie Armstrong who he admired dearly. Or, if you see someone whose confused, who can’t speak the language of the place they’re in, at a store/restaurant/bus or train station, and you try speaking their language and help them, a third person will say “That’s racist. Why did you speak X language to them?” ( Being an international traveler I always appreciate when someone tries to help, as most everyone does) I’m not sure why so many societies are regressing. Fun fact! The USA does not have a national language. This was done on purpose, as it was a society born of immigration, and it was kept this way because the most of its population, and it’s political leaders tend to believe in valuing the individual, their capabilities. Not limit them based on stupid things like how they look. ( For those that ask about Slavery: That came from the UK. And in less then 100 years after fighting the revolutionary war it was ended. Remember this was s time when it took weeks and months for 1 letter to get to another person.. There were Black, Spanish and Native American slave owners. And it was such an important thing to end, even when at war with Spain and an economic war with the UK and France, it was achieved.)

The racism of older people is more of a generational byproduct of their era. My grandparents specifically told me to avoid Asians. I'm not even fully white. I'm half native American. From their perspective, I can somewhat understand even though I don't agree with it. My grandfather was in Vietnam and my great grandfather was in WW2. They don't like Asian people at all. True, I grew up in a place were half of the population is asian and half is russian. unfortunately, in the neighborhood I grew up in we had a loot of badly mannered russians and as a result now I dislike russians and slavs in general. I believe it comes down to your experiences with different people during your childhood and teens. I have a black friend and we are friends since like 12 or 13, and now I don't have anything against black people. same is with people from caucasus, I had a classmate from there, who was a nice enough guy. don't have anything against them either. I think this is the reason why americans hate black people so much, since so much of them probably had similar experiences as me with russians. but it's not an excuse to hate people just based on there race or nationality, while I generally don't like slavs once I get to know a person that overshadows my predispositions.

2:17 So it's an average. If Japanese-White marriage ended up as divorce in 50% of cases. I mean average divorce rate in the US is 53% of all marriages. In Europe it's even higher it's around 63% on average and it's also different from the number of marriages. First marriage ended up as divorce in 73% of cases. The second marriage ended up as divorce in 41% of cases. And I think it's absolutely normal, much better than spend your entire life with someone you don't love anymore. Do you know where the divorce rate is almost close to zero? In Muslim countries where women are treated like a property.
@lAsteriosl
2 жыл бұрын
@dark_matters First of all, islam isn't a race, it is professed by all three major races. Second I have a lot of muslims in my city, 95% of them are men, can you guess why is that? I have a lesbian friend who is descended from a Muslim family, she said it was almost impossible for parents to let their daughter move to another city to study in university alone. But she is happy to flee, and now she lives here with her girlfriend, and afraid to return home because her parents found her a husband back home, and they wanna marry her on a person she ain't even know. Not to mention she's a lesbian and she never planned to tell it to her parents ever. (And she is from a good family who is able to pay her rent and university) Also, she changes her hair color and her name on social networks so that other muslim men do not harass her on social networks as they do to all other muslim women who want just to live free. So you can't explain why the divorce rate is low, but I can: Because in muslim countries divorced women are a stigma, it's almost impossible to find another husband after this. I'm not going to tell stories about what some girls get through and still didn't divorce, because whole society tells you that you should obey your husband no matter what. And resisting whole society requires a huge amount of willpower, and most girls just accept their lot in these countries. You are probably just another muslim man who told stories about how good it is to be a muslim woman in your country. I heard this a lot, mostly from men, like if they are experts in being a woman in muslim country. Their next step is usually to ask his dependent from him wife to say that she is fine and totally free to do anything that is allowed by her husband/family and she just does not want to do anything that they do not approve of. But as soon as they get to any free country and get rid of family they start talking real horror stories, which back in their home considered normal. I would advise you to not give unasked advice.

Man, c'mon. You are not a potato. You are plenty kakkoii yourself. Don't sell yourself short. Personally, I see a funny, well proportioned guy, who must be quite popular with the ladies. That's all.

I don't think it is fair to call racist an old person. They grew up in different times and it is difficult to show new stuff and try get their mind opened. It sucks but I think they just don't mean to be like that. In fact, as soon as they meet a nice foreigner they are already friends.
