I glad you have had an awesome time. I was actually going to email you to ask if you wanted to come to the US embassy for a drink as I work for the state dept in London. I love your channel and I totally forgot you were coming over as I've had my first child born three weeks ago. If you ever come this way again I'll happily invite you in, our MSG detachment would love to do a group photo with you.

Most, if not all, American sweet shops on Oxford Street are known to be a front for money laundering and counterfeit goods. They set up and then close down owing local rates and taxes with no easily traceable owners.
@robertknight2556

And, of course, the Met Police Force and other government agencies are entirely unaware of this practice.

@@robertknight2556 They are aware and have raided a number of these shops and seized counterfeit products. Evidently, tracing the owners is difficult but I believe that the shops will continue to be targeted and hopefully closed down. Not to mention that the sugar content of most of these sweets is horrendous. The solution would be a total ban on these types of shops opening anywhere in the UK until a genuine identifiable and registered owner can be identified.

@@RonSeymour1 I'm more concerned about the artificial sweeteners, give me sugar any day. Day off of work if I eat artificial sweeteners, not as fun as it sounds as I'll be on or very close to the toilet all day. Yay for the not at all unexpected consequences of sugar tax. (Yes I know that the labels show it, it's the recipe changes on things I've eaten for decades that catch me out now and again)

A very enjoyable series of your family trip to UK. It felt like we were very much along with you. The children were so well behaved - unusual considering the amount of travel and change of scenery etc. Thanks Mum and Dad, looking forward to the next one ❤❤❤❤

It’s been a joy watching you and your family on your travels here especially from the point of view of a family with younger children (who were so good to and with each other). I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone from the US feature a trip to the Clifton Suspension Bridge, an engineering marvel at nearly 200 years old.

So glad you and your family had an enjoyable time over here in The UK. It`s always a pleasure to have friends come and visit us and you are welcome anytime my friend. I hope you have a safe and pleasant onward journey home. Incidentally, the swirls that you noticed on the tips of the Engine fan are there to indicate when the Fan is turning while the plane in on the ground. As the fan turns quicker, the swirls start to flicker, this scares any Birds away that may get too close to the Fan turbine and get ingested into the Engine.

The spiral on the jet engine(s) is, for once, as obvious as you might think. It's simply to alert ground crew the fans are rotating. Next time you're in London, I'd recommend St. James's Palace. Still get some tourists there, but it's usually much much quieter.

Absolutely loved these vlogs, especially the trip to my home city Portsmouth, so much history including the home of the Royal Marines. When you left the dockyard you passed a pub called the Ship Anson, in the olden days drunk men were knocked unconscious, put on a ship and when they sobered up they had been conscribed into the Royal navy, they were called press gangs so don't get drunk around the dockyard.... :)

I was in London today. They're really gearing up for King Charles' coronation, with lots of barriers up etc and more security/police, and nice banners etc. I was in and out of Cotswold shops, which means more cool country wear. Soon I'm gonna look like a proper outdoor warrior! Even though I'm just a dopey hiker! I've been to Washington twice, 23 years ago when I was press officer for Jane's (the people who do Jane's Fighting Ships, Jane's Defence Weekly etc), and found when people were going "for a pint" it usually meant only one pint ... whereas I was usually ready for a second, third or fourth!

Aerospace jet engines have swirls painted onto their spinners in order to indicate when the engine is rotating while on the ground. In flight these swirls flicker as the engine rotates at high speed, scaring birds and allowing them to fly clear of the engine.😊

Two things slightly puzzle me about your trips to the UK, and the trips of other Americans. If I was a visitor to the UK, I wouldn't visit in the Spring. Now, water has a high specific heat; it takes a long time to cool down, and a long time to warm up. Our prevailing winds are West-Southwest, straight off a huge Atlantic. This Ocean takes time to warm up, so our springs tend to be late and cold. Our old saying is "Don't cast a clout [an item of clothing] till May be out". Conversely, our autumns tend to be surprisingly warm quite late on. The full glorious greenness of our country is just now coming. You've been seeing the country looking bare. I appreciate that London might be best during the winter, to avoid the crowds. The second thing is that you don't seem to visit our churches much. These are some of our most historic buildings, and are full of items of interest. I appreciate that in some you are not allowed to film, and some cost too much to get in. ( I don't approve of these churches charging for entry.) Many just ask for donations.
