@@ThePigasaurus I have met people that dress like an edgy fictional character that make these sorts of bold, absurd declarations about their abilities. For some reason it is also common for them to start a sentence, stumble over it, then restart it with nearly the same inflection. It doesn't seem like "pretends to be an anime character" and "has a brain thing that makes their dialogue glitch out" would necessarily be bundled traits but I've anecdotally encountered them together in almost every instance (albeit with a very small sample size, thankfully, although it's still weird this has happened more than once), and apparently Spence has had a similar enough experience to include that detail here as well.

we didn't have anime kids when i was going to school. a good third of my class watched normie anime on Toonami. DBZ, Cowboy Beebop, etc. but that wasn't really frowned upon. then again nobody formed their personality around it

Totally, I was always very shy and awkward and anxious as a kid so the “normal” kids didn’t like hanging out with me, So yeah all those nice anime kids and gay kids (back then people still hated and made fun of you and called you weird for being gay) and nerdy kids and ugly girls and boys (and all the other outcasts) were the only people I could make friends with

Having been with many kids like this, unfortunately the ending of this video, as wholesome as it is, did not occur. Bullies were often terribly cruel and/or physically abusive. Middle School is the worst time of any young person's life.

@@keelansanford9376 Being bullied just for you being you is never ok; most of the time it was never their fault. They weren’t threatening or harming anyone. They were different, and awkward maybe, but they couldn’t change that about themselves. They never deserved to be hurt they way they were.

Same. I never watched anime and rarely used the internet, but a lot of my friends did. Anime fans used to bring up anime around me a lot, because of how I talked. It took me a while to learn that a lot of my mannerisms were acting as a shibboleth haha.
