Sometimes during brass arc, one of our staff members will take a pair of shoes and put it on our bell and we have to hold it up for five straight minutes. How was the switch from woodwind to brass? Just out of curiosity, since I’m planning on picking up baritone from flute before my own second year of marching
@CharlieTheGoldfish
11 ай бұрын
@@Elloliott it's a very weird switch and the weight difference will be difficult to manage at first. Over time though it becomes pretty easy to hold. Playing a brass instrument is another challenge especially for WWs switching. Again it takes some getting used to but after time it becomes second nature. Assuming you also don't know how to play baritone, you also have to learn how to play each note. As long as you put in the time and effort learning isn't as difficult as it seems. The hardest part for me was learning to read bass clef but if can teach yourself a trick to learn it, it becomes easy. If you ever have questions always ask your director, upperclassmen, or other brass players. My marching season just ended last night and it was a blast. Our school took 1st all year long and at our final comp last night took 1st out of 11. Along with awards for Best Music and General Effect. Anyways just remember to take it easy. Learning to march with a new instrument is a process that takes time. Don't ever hesitate to ask questions, even if you feel as though they are stupid questions. Have a good season (if your marching currently) and have an amazing season next year!!!
