Hazel is an amazing role model for climbing (and any recreational athlete). Thank you both for this!

Very interesting - and relevant - conversation. I'm pretty old and pretty broken, and am currently developing a new climbing area. This means that I have no idea how hard anything is; rather, I clean and bolt what looks interesting and fun. At first it kicks my ass, then I figure it out, then I send it. I'm making advances seemingly weekly, with not a number in sight. This feels like the most fun and satisfaction I've had in over fifty years of climbing. 🙏

5:10 I could never understand why climbers would get angry AT THE ROCK. The rock isn't doing anything other than being a rock, it's not denying anybody a send; it's there for millennia, showing you to your face how to dance with it, and some people think it's trying to fight them. It IS actually a mirror to the climber's own psyche, and how they view their own activities in general. If you're getting pissed at your current crag project, back off for as long as you need to, get your shit together and try again. It'll be there when you get back.
