Old school trucks no matter what brand have a certain feel to them when you drive them. it's hard to explain but The newer trucks just don't have that same feel. Sure they might be faster and more reliable but there's just something about driving an old truck that feels good. It's almost as if the older trucks have a soul and you connect with them but newer trucks don't seem to have that. If you drive an older truck you might know what I'm getting at.

Joshua Jeremy how are they borderline rice?
@BigWheel.
6 жыл бұрын
Derrick Hamblet they are way oversized for that ram... At that point the mudflaps are so big that they begin to collect their own mud and dirt mudflaps are normally meant to stop mud flying off the tires and onto whoever's or whatevers behind the truck Now when they themselves begin to throw dirt everywhere behind the truck... They're useless. Those are so big I'd assume their meant for somthing like a 3500 dualy or a small semi... And the reason for that is semis tires could violently explode if they pop so they keep rubber from hitting the cars behind And a 3500 is just a big wide truck... So it kinda would need a huge mudflap

I know they have to make the new one look good, but the 4x4 issue on the 2nd gen is common and easy to fix. The center axle disconnect operates under vacuum. After 20 years, the original lines have got to be dry rotted. I had the same problem with my 99. Went to Advance Auto Parts, showed them the old section and they cut a little bit of vacuum line off a roll in the back, didn't even charge me for it. No problems since then. Also got my ac and cruise back since both of those work off of vacuum too.

I have had trucks of this kind (not the new truck). I consider them good for mild off road at a slow pace or the mall parking lot. I would NOT want a 57k truck or a body lift or block under the spring kit truck for the off road I like. I bought a full size Bronco and dd some upgrade. Not a lot of lift just 4" but glass fenders to clear 35" tires. Cut and turned TTB independent with long chromoly heim joint mounted radius arms and tall shock towers I bought. Then I gusseted and plated the beams upgraded the axles and joints + bearings seals hubs. Rear tower and Deaver Springs. Run it on King Shocks (WAY WORTH THE COST) I got gears and lockers, I rebuilt and improved my transfer case, bought a Monster trans and drive shafts. WOW it was great. Then the engine needed help. A balanced and blueprinted 408 with AFR heads etc.. All this with killer sound much less than new. A Raptor is nice but $$$$ more. It has 13"front and 13.9" rear wheel travel on good Fox shocks. I have 18" front and 20 rear on KINGS. Can these do anything close to this? kzitem.info/news/bejne/sH-Ptn-tjpSrgXo or the first run of the Mojave Road with the GF like this kzitem.info/news/bejne/raqrvairi2SifJw I conclude with this

Truth is you can take any older model truck/suv, fix it up and mod it to heaven and back and still be cheaper than any newer rig off the shelf. Not to mention if you buy new you STILL have to mod it your way as well so that's even more. Give me an older Tacoma (pre giant body days), 4Runner, XJ and I can have a nicely built out rig with the main cost being time. Even if you're worried about power you can put a super/turbo on the rigs and tune them and likely still be cheaper.

The only difference between the new and the old truck is the differentials are not opened if anymore if you got a locker in the front and rear they do pretty much the exact same on off-road all four tires will spin in 4 wheel drive

Computers can hurt just as much as they help. Trac control, ABS, and stability control are all things you don’t see on serious off road rigs because they can be detrimental, the first thing that the military teaches you is that computers will fail when you need them most. Computers can help a lot but it’s good to have the knowledge or the ability to NOT rely on them because they will at some point in time seriously fail you.

GTA5 LSPDFR you’re stupid. You’ve never owned a truck in your life apparently because of you have ever owned a ford you’d know they are more prone to losing the comforts that make a vehicle feasible. Ac, heat, trans, and the engines most of all are prone to overheating so they take a lot more wear. If you look up these jobs replacing the common ford problems most of them take 6-20 hours to fix and are quite common.

With new trucks pushing against the $100,000 barrier as those wanted to see how much technology could perform off-road as a new truck was able to get up a rutted up hill without much fuss as an older truck would have done some damage trying to scale the same hill as owners would be limping the truck off the trail as it would be brought back on a trailer.

I love my 98 Ram 1500 long bed, sure it's a gas guzzler, but I can, when it's ready, rebuild my own transmission because it's so simple. I have fixed most of the things that were age/ wear related and I have owned two Toyotas; the second best trucks in the world. Buy one of these expensive techno marvels if you have the money and pay the "TECHNICIAN" when things go wrong. Mine is just advanced enough for me, don't worry about carbs or points and for the last couple of years I have really enjoyed my old truck. As for the balls, give me a couple of big brass ones!

they had to choose a broken 4wd because they knew a working 4wd will blow these new pos trucks completely out of the water. i work at a dodge dealership, and we loaned a 2020 to a customer for 3 days and he took it hunting. no body damage, no frame damage. dash lit up like a christmas tree, 16k repair bill and about 6 weeks off and on in the shop. my pos 99 Durango with the 5.9l Gas? weve been hauling chords of wood out of mountain trails, hunting and beating that thing to hell for 5 years now. we've taken it against jeep wranglers (3.8l and 3.6l) and went toe to toe with em on some pretty damn steep trails here in the Rockies. best part is, most of the problems it has weve been ignoring since we bought the damn thing, no issue clocking over 20k on it.

I normally like TFL videos but comparing a 4x4 of anything versus a RWD isn't a good or fair comparison. And, secondly, why does everyone turn of the traction control? In 4-low that system offers a brake-lock-differential technology that works nearly as well as a locker.
@samuelclark9909

Put that old dodge in neutral roll forward at about 2 to 3 mph and put it in 4 lo, it wil align the splines in the transfer case and go right in.

a new 2017 f150 motor cost $7,500.00. My 1986 f150 motor cost $995.00. I dont care if i need to hop out of the truck to trun the knobs to activate the 4x4. The parts for my truck are very cheap. Nothing can replace my truck... They make new trucks for style not for hard work.

So I am a fan of older trucks, as I drive a 95 Ford 7.3 4x4 myself. But if I were to have to drive across the country, in either my truck, or a brand new Ford truck, I'll take the new one. This is the only thing that new trucks have other the old. But, I also don't have a loan payment, and I can fix it myself, this is where old trucks are better.
