Complaining about the transmission makes it last place? Get the fucking manual version than. Jesus it seems like "If the car doesn't have flappy paddles than it's not good, it's behind, it's old technology." I like manuals better! @cadrolls I'm with you. Cadillac's 6-speed auto (with paddle shifters), also avail in 6-speed manual; is more designed for fuel efficiency. Well, the CTS-V isn't as such (if you get one please be cozy with your local gas station (EPA 12 city/18 hwy.)). The Audi and BMW's autos are dual-clutch autos. The ones who will drive the RS-5 and M3 will use the paddle shifters more often for driving experience.

11 жыл бұрын
Uh, the CTS-V kicks the RS5's ass. And the M3. And the C63. In fact the CTS-V would have won this comparison if they had gotten a manual one instead of an automatic, because if you were paying attention to the video you would have noticed that the CTS-V did everything better than both the other cars, but they didn't like the automatic transmission.

ORLY? Tell me what facts I got wrong. You've never driven a CTS-V, have you? If you had, we wouldn't be having this discussion. The CTS-V runs 11s stock, what does the RS5 run again? I mean you understand that the CTS-V has almost 250 lb-ft more torque than the RS5, right? I've had some putz in an RS5 try to run me, it was fucking pathetic. Those cars are not fast.
@vernonprice5986
11 жыл бұрын
NikoBell12 Right, I'm the blind one here. So tell me how I'm wrong, exactly. This is about you hating the CTS-V, not me hating anything. haven't you been paying attention? Oh and about my horrible typing skills, did I make any grammatical errors or spelling mistakes? Please do point them out to me. If you're going to call me retarded regarding the CTS-V's steering feel, then I can only assume once again that you haven't actually watched this video. Or any other review of the CTS-V. Or the head 2 head against the E63. I'm not even the one saying the CTS-V has the best steering feel. Once again, feel free to watch this video again, but maybe pay attention this time. And if the RS5 is fast, what does that make the CTS-V? Super fast? Monstrously fast? Ridiculously fast? Unbelievably fast? I don't know, you tell me. It's substantially faster than the RS5, so you tell me what you call that. Speaking of pissy, have you looked in a mirror lately? Oh, and as he pointed out in the video, the reason the CTS-V got last place was because of the automatic transmission. I don't like autos, and my CTS-V has a manual. And Iv'e used it to utterly humiliate people in RS5s and M3s, it's hilarious how butthurt they get. And to add insult to injury, mine is a WAGON. I'm guessing you have just absolutely zero clue how much faster the CTS-V is than the M3 and the RS5. Like absolutely no idea at all. Audi and BMW drivers tend to be the most obnoxiously stuck up about their cars (like you, for example) so they're the most fun to destroy. I mean your comments here are evidence of that, you think the RS5 is actually competitive with the CTS-V. Let me know when you come back to reality.

The reviewer is correct to place Cadillac as last. GM, in their very American thinking, did not bother to pay as much attention to the gearbox as the engine when they designed the CTS-V. Also, until about 6 years ago, GM has never heard of "independent suspension", so while the CTS-V's suspension is superb, it lacks the precision of the M3 because it has not been tested and tweaked for 30+ years. Also, for those who are interested, 0-60 time for M3 is 3.7s, which is faster than CTS-V (3.9s)
@clintkeller951
12 жыл бұрын
Because size-wise, the CTS is really meant to challenge the M5/M6 offerings from BMW. However, Cadillac doesn't have the 3-Series-sized ATS/ATS-V models yet, AND the CTS-V coupe is priced competitively with the M3 at a starting price in the $60k-$70k range. The M6 is priced well above that, and many reviewers use price points as a means for comparing competing models, as buyers looking to choose will obviously look at the cost of the vehicle.

@dwill8919 I agree, but just because a car has awd doesnt mean it handles better. handling has to do with suspension and breaking for the most part. On the traction side yes, awd is much better as well as a tire with a good foot print.

Right, except for the part where he said the handling and steering were the best in the group. In fact the only problem he had with the CTS-V - and the only reason it didn't come in first - was the auto transmission. And of course you can get the CTS-V with a Tremec 6-speed manual, which solves that problem. This is an odd comparison because neither the RS5 nor the M3 are in the CTS-V's league. At all. The Cadillac CTS-V comes standard with premium Italian leather on both sides of the seats, dashboard, and door panels. It is in the top 5 cars when it comes to quality and dependability. The BMW, on the other hand, has the highest fatality rate, per mile driven, of just about any car ever built. When they need replacement parts, they are sometimes more than 4 times more for similar parts on the Cadillac. BMWs come standard with cheap vinyl and cheaper plastic. Cadillac is KING!♥

The M3 has been around since 1986 while the CTS V is relatively young as it was introduced in 2004. That's quite a head start for the perennial king of the hill from Bavaria. The Cadillac though has been improving by leaps and bounds. Personally, I'm thrilled with the job Audi has done with the RS5. In my opinion and from experience with both companies, Audi produces an all-around better sports car. The main reason being is not only do you get a beautifully designed; luxurious vehicle with serious power, but you can take it through even the worst of weather conditions with a sense of confidence. The M3 may be fun to drive, but not for the everyday driver. My S4 moves through it all. Looking forward to the RS5 in the U.S.

People tend to forget why Motor Trend and similar publications do these tests. Cadillac built the CTS to cut into BMW's monumental lead in the luxury sport sedan segment, with just one model instead of two. They built the CTS as a mid-segment competitor, with a sedan that would compete against the M5 and a coupe that would target the M3. This has everything in the world to do with market. The CTS-V is also faster than a Ferrari California, but they're not meant to compete, so it's irrelevant.

That's because Corvettes and Econoboxes are not comparable. Price absolutely matters when you're looking at cars of the same or similar class. That's been one of Cadillac's main arguments with the CTS-V against the outgoing M5 - it's faster in a straight line and round the track, plus it's a hell of a lot cheaper. Purists will point out that the CTS-V is smaller than the M5, but bigger than the M3. Hence, the ATS and why the 2014 CTS is going to be much bigger.

According to the Insurance Institute of America, BMW has been in the top 5 year after year after year as having the HIGHEST fatalities, per mile driven, than ANY other car ever built. That was reported on ABC National News. Channel 8 here in Connecticut. In fact, according to Motor Trend, Germany has a 1% higher fatality rate than the United States.

German cars did get a jump start on American sport luxury cars, true. Cadillac is catching up fast though. 70% of all new ATS sales are from former German car buyers. Cadillac is in the top 5 now for dependability and safety. Cadillac's resale value is now ahead of Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Volkswagon and is equal to BMW now. Things are changing. Cadillac is now WORLD CLASS. Cadillac doesn't just make great luxury cars, you know... They make CADILLACS♥

Keep eyes out for the ATS-V, which will be the answer to the M3. The CTS is a 5 series, regardless of who they compare it to. the CTS-V sedan is the M5 competition, not M3.

Here's the truth, and I'm a Chevy man and personally own a Z06. The BMW is definitely the best drivers car, it handles EXTREMELY well and has credible acceleration and a mature, functional interior that is also gorgeous. The Audi is a good all-season car but doesn't compare to the BMW. Now the Caddy, it's got an incredible 550hp LSX engine but Jesus Christ the car weighs 4275 lbs bone dry. It's a nice car but it's definitely not as quick as it COULD have been with a light chassis, BMW wins here.

@CARandDRlVER Cont- The M series has been the standard that every car tries to beat.And yes, the CTS-V has done that. Keep in mind,I am not arguing at all lol.The CTS-V is a kick ass car.Its nice,its fast and for the price it can't be beat "Yet". My argument is that you have to be logical when writing about a car other than saying Cadillac sucks or Bmw sucks.Yes, a company finally got a good car to beat BMWs M series but for how long?M3s 5 years old and of course someone finally had to beat it.

I am not referring to the past to prove BMWs are inferior. I SOLIDLY point to the present and to the future as well. Cadillac's magnetic suspension was so good that Ferrari, the world's leader in high performance sports cars, chose it over the one used on BMW. ALL the people who have compared Cadillac to the BMW have admitted that Cadillac is the better car. 70% of ALL new Cadillac ATS sales are coming from former German car owners. Cadillac saw a 40% increase in sales from last year.

Yes, i've seen those vids where people testing would say they enjoyed the CTSV more than an M5... Firstly, their accents are always American. European accented people usually refrain from such statements. Those people also refer to the cheap plastics u mentioned as providing an overall much more refined feeling than a CTSV. Bottom line, fun is mostly subjective, but BMW is the only one that makes cars purely for joy... and then we have the Caddies that try to catch them up... with bigger engines

@cadrolls1 Exactly. The only German marque that can compare to Caddy historically is Mercedes, but even then so Merc like you said was borrowing alot of tech and knowledge from Caddy. They didn't call Caddilac's the "Standard of the World" for nothing. Cadillac was the marque of prestige, class, money, and status. It was just the stupid Oil Embargo of 1973 and union problems that hurt Caddy's image for a few decades but that's all old news now, Caddy is back and they deserve recognition.

@Jutt08 CADILLAC: 556 HP BMW: 414 HP AUDI: 444 HP ...what a fair comparison. and btw, even if the caddillac wins this match it won't be selling well in europe, cause gas it has much more capacity compared to the others...and gas is much more expensive in europe. you pay about 1,50 Euro for one liter in germany which is about 2 USD...that would be nearly 8 USD for one US gallon (I think that's the common unit for gas in the USA, right?) so you see why Germans built their cars in a different way

@cadrolls The 0-60 times are accurate. 3.9s for CTS-V w/ manual transmission, 3.7s for M3 w/ DCT in M-Mode. Since the MSRP of the CTS-V is also $4,000 more than an M3, an M3 that is similarly priced as the CTS-V has the DCT and is capable of faster gear change as a result. Cadillac has more power, but it's 500 lbs heavier than the BMW, and its "reliable" (aka. old and ancient) gearbox does not allow optimal use of that power. In the end, CTS-V is still just a very expensive muscle car.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated that GM failed to meet crash test requirements Resulting in poor occupant protection that do not meet U.S. requirements. GM to recall two million Cadillac CTS and CTS-V sports sedans from 2009-2010 including Cadillac CTS sedan (all-wheel drive type). Under certain circumstances, knee or leg decapitations can occur due to the passenger glove compartment.

i love BMW, Mercedes and audi BUT i dont understand people saying bmw is more fun to drive. Its wrong cause where i live we have winter with "snow" and if you drive a bmw you are dead! if you lose the grip you are done. Audi is extremely good in the winter, you can drive as fast as you want in the corners(almost) anyway! i drive an audi myself and i see that bmw owners drive like old people when its winter, for example BMW - 100km/h and Audi - 130km/h without a problem. Thats why we love AUDI !
