Good info Amy! As you know, I am an east valley girl so I was ready to protect my turf, but your assessment is very on point.

Moved into a new construction home in Queen Creek last September and love it our here. Never been to the west valley so thanks for the insights. I will say charter schools are going up like crazy out here too. Two are being built within 1 mile of my house!

I drive down from Show Low to do my “city shopping” and have grown very fond of the east valley. My brother lives in the west, and while he has a lovely home & there’s much to do, I still go to the east (on my way home) to shop. Just something about the place!

It depends on where work is, period. If you can afford Scottsdale or Gilbert, those would be my picks. Scottsdale's more central but Gilbert's newer builds. Stay away from south phoenix, Mesa, apache junction. San tan and queen creek may be cheaper but the commute is not good. Every city has sites to see, but look at safest cities for choosing a HOME.

I haven't been to Scottsdale in years. Phoenix is growing and it easier for me to get to Gilbert and Chandler.

Live near Tucson for the past six years and in the Prescott area prior. When I lived in Phoenix in the early 90s, it got rural within 10 minutes west of 17 on the 10. There was no loop 101 and there was tons of open farmland. There was no 202 either. 51 was called the Squaw Peak Freeway and only went a short distance. Seriously did no recognize some of the areas near my apartment in west Mesa, where I lived. The B of A building looked vacant and there was housing that occupied the open land that was adjacent to B of A building. Fiesta Mall looked dead too, like most malls these days. Although Tucson has added some new areas and construction, it reminds me of Phoenix circa 1992. It’s definitely less metropolitan here, but is more laid back in most respects.

Thank you for the great info. My wife and I have considered making the move out to AZ and can't decide between the West and East. We do love the feel of Verrado and Eastmark(also a DMB community). What are your thoughts on Eastmark?
@amyhayslettrealtor1901

Zach both Verrado and Eastmark are great communities. I don't cover the eastside but I have a great eastside agent whom I can set you up with. She and I often tag team when we have buyers who are considering east vs west. Feel free to contact me directly.

East Mark is great! I moved to Queen Creek which is right down the road from East Mark and part of me wishes I would have chosen East mark instead. Do not move to the west side, it’s garbage. This lady doesn’t explain the difference well. I’d bet she lives in the west valley lol

East Vally is so much better. I'm telling you now Verrado is still up and coming for the most part. I have clients in the Eastmark community in the East Valley and it's beautiful and wr have so much more out this way. Plus, you can not beat the Superstition mountain. We also have a lot more greenery out this way. WAYYYYYYY less traffic.

Everywhere is unique and diverse but what ruins the vibe is the racist white folks/politicks, I have encountered through the valley, sometimes I wonder if they are human being.

That you for not putting Sun City in your west valley list... We don't want any attention, we like it just as is. Quiet and forgotten... Us old folks can do without night life and over priced housing.

There are more options for night life but as one who is asleep by 9 that isn't so important to me any more. We are seeing more jobs coming to the west valley especially in Goodyear. You are right about there being more work opportunity in the east valley. That is shifting.

Let’s see how long the coyotes and cardinals stay in the west valley…. Lol. Also, if San Tan Valley and Florence and included in the East Valley (which they should be), the growth in the East Valley will outpace the west side for a VERY long time. If you are someone who wants to move to Phx, you should absolutely move to the east valley. Check out Queen Creek and San Tan if you don’t want to pay over $225 per sq/ft

Great video,but yeah I live in Goodyear and it had the potential to be a good city ,but too many affordable people moving in. To be brutally honest the west side is not even close as too desirable living as the east side !

Well, I chose the west valley. I have lived on the east side, central Phoenix and now the west side. I love it. If you had told me when I went to ASU that I would be living here now, I would have said that you are crazy. Now, if you told me I would some day be in the east valley, I would also say you are crazy. But who knows, maybe some day I will head east again.
