An honest and fair assessment of Next Generation Foot Health Training. Some of the benefits are that classes are small (4 students per practical course), great reviews from past students, practical training is very hands on and we care about what is delivered and up date the course where required for the better. We also have an amazing and modern training environment.

As a Podiatry Assistant in the NHS, I did all my training in-house in partnership with the Podiatry Association. I was doing about 3 days in clinic / home visits & the other 2 training / studing. It took a year to qualify, with a completed evidence portfolio, practical exam & one to one verbal questioning with the Podiatry Association. After 2 years in my job, I am still learning new things all a time.

I did start with SMAE but found the essays too difficult and I wasn't learning anything. I did my training with BSY which was a good theory course but did feel the practical could have been better. Thankfully I'm interested in CPD so I'll improve my knowledge myself.

Hi Rebecca, that's interesting, just shows one course/training doesn't suit everybody and that it's good to have options. How far did you go with SMAE and the essays? Also never heard of BSY, I'll have to look them up. I'd like to do a video on CPD courses and different places that do it x x

Hi my daughter qualified with BSY as a foot care specialist and works with me in my podiatry practice .I felt the practical aspect was not comprehensive enough but she’s been at my side watching me since she was a child so no problem really .

@janetnute1590 thank you for this. I have since passed my theory but unable to so their practical as it used to be local to me but not anymore. Their response when I asked what I can do, they said to come over to Barnstaple like everyone else. Their customer service is not good. So now I'm looking at someplace local to me even if it means redoing the course again. I can't stay overnight anywhere as I look after my grandson a few days a week. I'm looking for a 9-5 training if possible now.

Is it that the uk alone is doing this. I have looked up Canada and you have to become a nurse first and it take years . I did mine in caribbean but i believe uk is fully more information

Different countries do things differently. In some countries there is no such thing as foot health practitioners or foot care nurses, just Podiatrists, so depends. In the UK this is how we do it, there are Podiatry Assistant too which I think is 2 years of study. Then obviously the Podiatry degree which is 3 or 4 years x x

I think it's best you do what I did, search Google see what's out there and what suits you and your vision/goal. Distance doesn't usually matter, as most if not all of the FHP courses are distance learning, you'll only need to attend the 1 or 2 week practical training where you can stay over somewhere local x

I'm confused. Online you can find a course from 100£ to become a fhp and some are over 1000£ and on this cheap ones are that you can start work as fhp and buy insurance. Is it that the cheap one are only for the certificate and expensive for actual knowledge? 🤔
@notapod1
Жыл бұрын
personally I wouldnt go for the cheap ones. Sought out reputable courses and those who preferably have membership and insurance together. I know some of the cheaper ones only do the theory part, then you have to find somewhere to do a 2 week training, which can prove very difficult x

@Not A Pod being honest... I did my practical and theory courses in Poland (I'm from Poland so I understood everything) and took courses in UK only for the insurance... it a BIG gap between them. I feel like I'm ready after my Polish one but in UK was like a joke 😔😔😔

@pamelangomakambu1752 I don't recommend an online courses. You need a practice first, ask questions etc. We are working with sharp tools so you need to be sure your skills. And there's a lot problems looking similar but actually they are completely different. You need to be able to recognise what problem your client have. It's not easy and cheap online courses will not teach you that.
