I grew up not far from Thame. Beautiful village surrounded by countryside. With the accents and a couple of the early videos, I guessed Buckinghamshire but didn't really think Thame. Spot on guys keep it up.

+Colin Schroeder (aKiDnamedCoLiN) Like previously mentioned, weather can be utter shite. BUT if you like pubs and walking about, I'd recommend Newcastle. Really any part of Newcastle. Just be aware that we have thick accents that can make it really rough for Americans to understand us. We're like people from London except we have a tennis ball in our mouth.

Thanks for bringing the housing problem to light - it really is a huge issue in the UK, especially London. I don't think people in the US quite understand just how expensive houses are over here. Unless you buy a house with a partner who's also well-off, you have no chance of buying a house until you're into your 30s.
@Taylorjay99
8 жыл бұрын
+SB 90s I think it really depends where you live. All the houses in Oxfordshire are incredibly expensive. However, houses in places like Manchester aren't actually too expensive in comparison
@brup123
8 жыл бұрын
Widgemyster True, particularly further up north of the UK it gets much cheaper, but still far more expensive than the US when comparing like-for-like size and quality. I live in London and just graduated into my first job. I've gone into the investment banking field, but even then I probably won't be able to buy a house in London by myself until I'm close to 30, maybe even beyond. God knows what the majority of Londoners are going to do...
@statiq1941

Most of this stems from overseas buyers investing in property then not using or selling it. its like 60% of housing in England is being unsold, and about 30% of that statistic are empty
@jurr854

+SB 90s Vancouver, Canada and a lot of other parts of BC have the same problem. Alberta is getting that way too.
@brup123

jurr!! Really? So a small 2 bedroom terraced house in the one of the worst suburbs of the city costs upwards of $700k? The UK has a fairly unique problem in that it's a very small country with a high population, where the average wage is also fairly high compared to the rest of the developed world. Simple demand and supply theory leads to rapidly rising housing prices. But then you may think that if houses become too expensive for most of the UK to buy, prices must come down. But no, it's because the top 5% of wealth in the UK and thousands of foreign wealth are buying up multiple properties to rent out or sell on for a profit to other wealthy people around the world. London is one of the most desirable locations for the wealthy elite across the world, and it just pushes prices up beyond the reach of the normal UK residents.
