The prophets foretell a period the sages call the “birth pangs of the Messiah”-a time of intense tribulation directly before the final advent of the Messianic Era. For a century, dispensationalist Christians have postulated that they will be exempt from this “tribulation,” having been raptured into the heavens to watch from a distance as the foundations of Babylon crumble. However, the Scriptures paint a different picture. To become a follower of the Master is to join oneself to the Jewish people. We need to be able to say, as Ruth did to Naomi, “Where you go, I will go.” Whatever befalls the Jewish people during the final years of history, we will be there to comfort and shelter them in the name of our Master, Yeshua, and in this, we will fulfill our destiny as those from among the nations who call on the name of the God of Israel.
