A circular walk in the Yorkshire Dales up to the summit of Whernside, which is the highest of the Yorkshire 3 Peaks at 736m. The walk starts from the impressive Ribblehead Viaduct, where there is plenty of car parking spaces at the side of the road. The route walks past the viaduct following the railway line. After crossing the railway by way of a bridge a really nice waterfall is seen. The route heads past the waterfall and after a short climb turns left over a fence stile. The route then follows a path on to the ridge which leads to the summit of Whernside. The route then continues over the summit and heads back down the other side of the fell, before walking back to the start point at Ribblehead Viaduct. Distance is around 8 miles.
