Yep it’s awesome you can use Bosch batteries in the newer Dremels. IDK if I mentioned it in this video, only drawback is the 8250 and 8260 can’t use the Bosch 6ah because of how the tail of the tool hits the bump out on the 6ah. But the 6ah will work on the 8240.

Fyi it only works with Bosch batterys without the base, The ones with the base (4&6ah) won't work. I don't know if they did this on purpose or just bad engineering. Its funny because the 8240 doesn't have the tale like the 8260/50 so all work in the 8240....

The Bosch and Dremel OEM batteries interchange fine, but the aftermarket batteries only work in the Bosch, not in tye Dremel. I've noticed that the Bosch 12V tools are now completely gone from our local Lowes (and have not been available at HD for a long time). I have been using the Bosch 12V drills for many years and they are still my favorite for light to medium duty tasks. I wonder if Bosch is considering changing the Bosch 12v line to Dremel branding in the US? It would be a real shame for that line up to disappear. Milwaukee's 12V line has gained huge share and it is obviously "inspired by" the Bosch line which has been around for what, 10 or 20 years now?

You always must use the correct amperage the electronics is designed for. The 8250 and 60 is designed to use the 3 amp battery made with Dremel. 2 amp batteries are under powered. Higher amp batteries are normally ok. This is the same with corded tools.
@coyldeor

@@richvolkjrful Hi Rich. The point is 1ah or 20Ah is not about under or over-powered devices. More Ah as David J said, simply gives you longer use of a tool between charges. The Dremel comes with several different Ah batteries so are you saying they are also wrong? Keep in mind that some commenters on KZitem are actually trained electricians, electricians or engineers and aren't just shooting the breeze. I am a sparky and electronics hobbyist yet I have learned so much from KZitem videos but also from the intelligent comments underneath.
@meanderinoranges

@@richvolkjrful the 2.0 / 3.0 rating of the batteries is in Amp-hours, not Amps. It's a capacity rating, not a current rating. In other words, it tells you how long the batteries take to discharge, not how many amps they deliver to the tool. Increasing this number does not increase tool performance and torque, it only extends the time you can use the tool before you need to recharge the battery.
