Its all depends on your lifestyle. Basically, you get what you paid for it. I have the oracle machine without screen. Making a latte less than 2mins. Consistency and quality of coffee taste is all depends on quality of beans, grinding, dosing, tamping. Most people failed from these procedures. But the oracle does the job for you with consistency. Its a game changer machine.

Your videos are just jam-packed with useful, bottom-line information. As a long-time Breville user myself, what I found most compelling is what you chose to leave out, and why. I had been struggling to articulate why I thought the "touch" series of machines were an overly-fussy attempt to simplify a functional process. You nailed it: poor value. Many thanks for your terrific videos. The content, production, and editing are superb!

I owned a Bambino Plus, and also a separate Smart Grinder Pro. You will be surprise to see that bambino has many other features like those higher end machines such as programming pre-infusion, manually program the shot, auto or manual frothing. The draw back of this machine is, you can't control the temperature. Despite of the PID controlled, you will still need to wait for awhile between cups (13 seconds as mentioned). The separate grinder will enable us to provide a wider range of grind size than most built in units. If you are running with time in the early morning, Bambino is a good choice.

I've got the lowest end model in this lineup: the Duo Temp Pro. In my personal experience the machine is well built. I picked it up in rough condition at a recycle center; with descaling and cleaning it was working like new. I was expecting to have to replace some parts, since it was labeled as "broken" and didn't appear to be well maintained even before the recycle center banged it around, but it was all good with just a little elbow grease. I like the basic nature of this machine, but can see how it's not for everyone. You have to do homework to get a good shot out of it. You do get digital temperature regulation (PID) which is very helpful, but it's on you to provide an adequate grinder dialed in to the proper setting, proper tamping pressure, proper shot time, etc. Aside from controlling the temperature of the water you're 100% in charge. In effect, it feels like I'm conducting a science experiment when I use it more than I'm making a drink sometimes. I'm kind of into that, but can see why people wouldn't want to deal with it.

Well made video, as always! I LOVE how you are always exactly to the point. Your videos are content-loaded with the shortest time possible, which I love! Btw, I disagree that the Touch variance of the Barista Model isn’t worth it. In the Oracle, it definitely isn’t worth it because the regular Oracle already has automatic steaming. But the Barista Touch automatic steaming is a true life-changing feature for an addition of only $200 to the Pro Model. I wouldn’t recommend anyone buying it, unless they are milk drink lovers like me. Most my drinks are milk based & I even use it to make hot milk tea or hot milk alone, in addition to lattes, of course. So, for people like me, it’s worth paying extra $200 for the convenience of automatic milk steaming, especially given the fact that no model of the Breville Baristas offers automatic steaming.

If you use the weekly 20% coupon that BBB provides you, it lowers the price to approximately $479.00 pre-tax. At a price like that, it's extremely hard to beat. Love Breville machines. First time I've heard anyone call the Barista Express grinder "good." Reddit seems to hate it. The 1st generation (pre 2017) tended to wear out over time but the 2nd generation introduced an adjustable top burr that you could tighten if your grinder stopped producing pressure even on the finest setting. It's interchangeable with the 1st gen too.

Yes, but in the case if the Barista Touch, you also loose the added grind resolution found on the Pro. Meaning that you are actually paying more, and sacrificing dialing in accuracy, just for automatic steaming. And the panarello is not the same as on the Oracle. The temperature sensor is located in the drip tray, like on the Bambino Plus
@LewisBurgess

@@LifestyleLab_ Fair points. I find the Barista Touch provides more convenience. I don't tend to change my coffee bean choice very often, so I rarely change the grind setting. While I would prefer the sensor in the wand, like the Oracle has, having to place the pitcher on the sensor is a minor issue to me. Since I purchased the Oracle first, the goal of my second purchase was to get many of features of the Oracle at a lower price and the Barista Touch does that for me. I was also lucky in that I purchased the Touch at this time of the year, and Black Friday sales reduced its cost to slightly more than $50 over cost of the Pro I found when I used your link provided above. Love your videos and this is just my opinion. Even with the details from your well done breakdown of the Breville line, I would still purchase the Barista Touch as my second machine and the Oracle if I only owned one.

I love my Barista Touch too, Sam. Very happy I went with this one. I love that I get perfectly steamed milk and I'm cleaning up as the milk is steaming which saves time. I had the lowest model. It was horrible. It only had the unpressurized basket-at the time I didn’t know about pressurized baskets-and the pressure was so high the shots were horribly underextracted. I bought a good burr grinder and ground the coffee on the finest setting. Still blew out a double shot in 7 seconds. My wife just bought it one day at BB&B. Never once did I get a decent shot. I’ll never buy another Breville
@BokBarber
Жыл бұрын
I just bought one of these same Duo Temp Pro machines secondhand at the thrift store and had a similar experience at first. I started by using an electric burr grinder, which I assumed to be a good model (reviews claimed it was capable of espresso), and had similar issues to what you describe: shots were taking less than 20 seconds at the finest grind setting, including the pre-infusion phase. It was a watery mess. I tried thoroughly cleaning the grinder and messing around with any adjustment I could find but it made no difference. It was very frustrating. Just to rule it out, I pulled out my el-cheapo ceramic burr hand grinder, dialed that in to a fine grind setting, and gave that a shot. Wouldn't you know it, suddenly the DTP worked! After a few attempts I had the machine doling out 25-35 second shots with 16.5g of coffee for a 1:2 extraction, bang on to what it should be. Sorry you had a bad experience, but it's possible that the grinder was the culprit. Even if it claims to be espresso friendly in reviews, you never know if those reviews are accurate. Maybe they had a cheaper machine not capable of getting to 9 bars, or were using a pressurized filter, or thought that a 15 second espresso shot was normal, or the tolerance gods just happened to work in their favor on their specific grinder despite it not actually being designed for espresso. Who knows? Unless the manufacturer states that the grinder is designed for espresso it's a gamble. Even some very good grinders are simply not calibrated for espresso, so it's not necessarily a quality or price issue either. Anyway, that's my two cents. Hope you found better luck with a different machine!

Both of them have PID, 58mm portafilter & dual boiler, etc. But it's hard to pick a machine to upgrade to from the Barista Express, since there are so many of them. But those two come up in mind. Thanks!

Rancilio and Breville shouldn’t be mentioned in the same sentence… just saying… Rancilio will outlast and outperform the Breville any day and in 15 years will be working like day 1… meanwhile you probably have to go through 2 or 3 Breville…

@@paolocardinali3951 Outlast maybe, but outperform? Not a chance. The Breville can do full pressure profiling and flow control plus programmable preinfusion. Does the Silvia do anything better? The Pro is still a new machine too so longevity isn't proven, but assuming it's as solid as the original, is that important? We talk about these things lasting for decades but 3 years later we think about upgrading. If my Breville breaks down in 2028 I won't be that sad about it, there will be better machines I've been eyeing up for years that I might welcome an excuse to buy.

@@alexyates7166 Rancilio has been making quality coffee machines for 95 years, Breville recently got into the market because it’s becoming trendy to make coffees at home… you are like a guy that buys a Hyundai because offers more features than a Mercedes and thinks he is the smart one… Rancilio uses solid industrial parts (the Silvia single group is over 13 Kg), the Breville uses cheap chinese crap that won’t make it past 5 years. Please, once you have 35 years experience in the field you come and talk to me…

@@paolocardinali3951 In this case the features are actually what affects the taste of your shots, heritage and build quality doesn't.

Nice review - to avoid clutter feel free to send the extras to me :). I hope for sales equivalent to last years - I realize touch is maybe not worth the extra @full price though was $799 last year (899 now - actually $719.xx at WS) and could easily use a 20 percent off coupon for new email w/o exclusions for breville. So basically at $640 for touch last year it was just a 150 more than the express on best sales this year. I'm still holding out for hope of return though some of the others looks interesting alternatives.

The Infuser seems to be sold out everywhere here in Canada. Is this model being discontinued? I like that model because I already have a good quality grinder. Then the Bambino Plus seems to have less control over the water temp...

Yes, I imagine it's being phased out along with the Duo Temp and Barista Express (old thermocoil machines)

Like this video great comparison! As a beginner I’m wondering Barista Pro or Bambino Plus combine with Smart Grinder. How’s your suggestion? Thanks.

My Bambino takes 10 seconds to get to steaming temperature ONLY from start up. If you pull a shot and then switch to steam, it takes no more than 6 seconds..

Disappointed with Breville. I bought a barista express to replace a Nespresso machine for environmental reasons. For return on investment I wanted it to last 5-6 years. It made really good coffee. After 2 years it stopped working. Breville replaced it under warranty. Again two years later it stopped working…now no longer under warranty they offered to repair it for $420. ….. so an expensive machine that makes good coffee but only lasts 2 years.

All of these machine you see here have been going strong for well over two years. The Barista Express is close to 6! :)

@@LifestyleLab_ Is it real. I've been researching an espresso machine for about a month. I thought of breville but now all my enthusiasm is gone.

Again, I’ve owned every machine in the lineup, many for 5+ years and never had an issue. I think the larger number or issues you heard about Brevilles is purely a factor of the fact that they sell 100 times more machines than any other brand…. More machines in the field, more complaints
