My first ever HDD I bought when I built my first PC almost 10 years ago was from Seagate. It's still alive and well :)

Guardians of the Galaxy, lol. Within a decade they've gone through many brandings, Legendary Reliability SV35, plain Surveillance, then SkyHawk. I've had good experience with the surveillance VX drives. Barracuda is not good. It is SMR technology. The NAND flash in FireCuda is only 8 GB. Games today are bigger than that (or 4 years ago). I think using MLC flash as a cache would wear it out quickly. You can get a 128 MB SATA SSD for €20 now and install programs from HDD to it. This would result in less writes to flash. What does the drive do with the vibration sensor? How does it behave differently if it detects vibration? Most Seagate drives by default come with automatic head parking. But there are software tools for disabling it: HDAT2 and OpenSeaChest. They seem to be rated for 300,000 head unloads. They are probably made of Adamantium.

i actually need all of those qualities in one... should i hold my breath for the one that combines all in one. sky hawk sound like it would work unless you do that one specific thing. the nas one sounds like it would not work unless its in a nas. but i still want many of its properties. maybe i need more info than this layman video has to offer.
