NOTE: You're wasting Trait slots with movement traits. They DO NOT affect gliding speed. Only Slow Walk, Running and Sprinting speeds. Galeclaw is the fastest with upgraded stars, as at 4-stars, it hits a speed of 1700 (note that the second fastest flier, Frostallion has a speed of 1500). Galeclaw is the best combat glider, as it is better than a dodge roll in speed, even at 0-stars, but it again, behaves like a glider, so you do decend. Hangyu can travel the furthest distance at 0-stars of all the gliders and is tied with the furthest distance traveled with the Killamari. Hangyu is the only pal that can go semi-rapidly upward. A single boost from a Hangyu will take you up 2 stories (2 wall heights or 2 blocks, however you want to look at it) and can be done repeatedly to scale things better than climbing. Of course not as good as a flier, but it makes for another option. The best Grapple Gun has a 6s CD and can travel 7.5 blocks at max, while it takes a Hangyu 1.8s to travel the 2 blocks distance. So a Hangyu is comparable to the best Grapple Gun (lower Grapple guns have shorter reach and longer CD's). Killamari starts off slower and falls faster than a Hangyu, but becomes comparable to one in how fast its decent is once maxed. Killamari's do get a small speed boost, going from 500 (same speed as the player sprinting) to 900 when maxed. Hangyu being the slowest seeming with a 100 gliding speed, but since momentum is held, and since a player can sprint, it's slowest speed really is 500 then. At max 4-stars, both Killamari and Hangyu can travel infinity until you run out of stamina, of which then Killamari would then be able to travel 3 times the distance a Hangyu can, as long as you don't need to go over anything (as the Hangyu can go up a bit). You do need to put away and take out your glider constantly to do this though, or else the Hangyu will win if you don't, since it gets a height boost in that one use, while the Killamari (while slowly) will of course start descending right away. Gravity for both is almost nothing though (almost), at 4-stars, that they essentially don't fall at all with the put away/take out/repeat method. Celerays exist... they're not good or better at anything. Slingshotting mechanics exist. Be it through using a Grapple Gun (shown in this video) or just sliding down a slope, you reach a speed of 1500. ALL gliders can use the slingshot mechanic to go at speeds of 1500. Momentum isn't lost when using the slingshot mechanic unless you do a hard 180 in the air or land. Because of this: - Hangyu is the best 0-star Pal for exploration, allowing for distance and height. Better at higher stars, but doesn't get as much buffs (mainly better stamina use). Because of the added utility of being able to ascend, I would take a Hangyu over a Killamari (even though Killamari is cute and Hangyu is kind of... meh looking). Because the Cryst exists, you have two flavors to choose from if you want them to help in combat too (Ground or Ice). - Killamari, when maxed, if used instead of Hangyu, can travel 3 times farther as it has the best (lowest) stamina drain, but doesn't get the ability to scale vertically. It requires condensing to be decent enough to use. Without condensing though it is sadly only slightly better than a Celeray. You'll still want to slingshot like with Hangyu when using one. You are stuck with Dark for your element, so not the best option against all those dragons. Essentially, use a Killamari if you're dedicated to the squid and plan on condensing it, then it may be worth it to you over a Hangyu. - Galeclaw is the fastest without slingshotting, as with maxed stars, it is 200 faster than slingshot speeds, so actually best to stop using said mechanic.... Because it has higher Gravity Scale on it, it will descend faster than a Hangyu and Killamari, thus isn't as good at exploration as those two. Galeclaw, even at 0-stars, is the best Glider for evasive combat as it is better than a dodge roll. You can also use a gun while gliding as a bonus, but honestly that part isn't as useful. Essentially, no matter the stars, take one if you want a better dodge roll. - Celeray is not good at anything.

I apologize to you, this comment is much more descriptive as to the state of the glider pals in the game than my video was.. I had set out to get the information that you laid out here. My research ended upon finding that you can slingshot yourself across the map with a Hangyu and that was it. The need to figure out the perfect glider pal was over. It was the Hangyu. What I should have included in the video: I bred mine to have Vanguard, Ferocious, and Musclehead (I'm still lacking a legendary) and have found that it is pretty effective in combat because of its character model being so thin and having a gap in the center where most pals will aim. Every once and a while there will be some pal who just can't hit him. But this is extremely well put and I very much appreciate the time put into writing it! This is such a generous and kind thing to do! :)

@@MindlesslyMindful Not a problem. I was originally just commenting about the Traits aspect. Then just kind of rambled along covering more... then more.... I kind of do that at times. I like info and tend to research things more than necessary..... Feel free to use the info all you like of course. Can even make a second video after you've tried it all out yourself if you want too.

My Celery is good at being a cute little glider and I won't let you slander her 😤

@@neowolf09 Cute does count for something and people do love manta rays. People also do like using any Pal, without looking to the exact mechanics on which is better gameplay wise, and that's just fine. The game isn't so hard that you cannot breed up a super version of any Pal to deal with your needs.

As a new player, only 25 hrs in, I had no idea how much better the pals where for gliding than the man made one. Very informative thankyou.

Short video, straight to the point, with demonstrations. Nice. You could do similar videos with flying and ground mounts :D

No, you're not the only one. I think an amazing part of the game is that you can play it however you want and there are systems in place to help you do just that! I was tired of the catching mechanic and wanted to explore the breeding so I made a full run where I don't throw a single pal sphere

With the galeclaw if you cancel the boost after you get it while in the air and redepo it you speed up also and can get way further
