Thanks for sharing this. I think overall Catalyst can do a better job as it uses gyro data unlike Davinci. Apart from processing time the problem with free version of Catalyst Browse is you cant export to 10bit. It would be interesting to see Catalyst vs Gyroflow, which can do a better job? But again for Gyroflow probably we need to turn off all stablization like IBIS, AS, OSS etc.

Hmm, I might have to look into Gyroflow... but if it's slow like Catalyst, that's a no-go for me. I don't have that kind of time, LOL.

@@RoadReality As far as I know it's not slow compared to Catalyst. Will try that out this week with gyro data and 10 bit footage. It seems difficult to pick and stick to one, as each one carries it's own pros and cons as I mentioned in my comments.

Sorry to bother you with a kind of off-topic question but when you get your video footage ready to edit in your software, do you first download it on your hard drive on the computer or do you edit straight from an external hard drive. I didn’t know if One would put less stress on the computer and help stop a little bit of my lagging issues? No worries if you don’t have time for this question, just thought I would throw it out there.

No worries, man! I keep all my footage on external drives, leaving the internal drive for just the operating system and programs. I think it makes it easier on the computer, but have no proof of this. As long as you're using SSDs instead of HDDs, editing will be much easier and smoother.

@@MinnowMoto See, that's the funny thing. I would think if playback was smooth, it would be able to save the file just as fast - it's all on SSDs, and I can render video out of Resolve at well over 30fps, so it should be faster than realtime, not way slower. It's already figured out the stabe and zoom, so it should just be a matter of writing the frames to disk.

@@RoadReality catalyst uses same encode setting as camera to minimize data loss , as far as stabilization goes it is as fast as resolve , if you stabilize in resolve then render it out you will get same delay . Sony has a plug in for Premeier Pro dk when they gonna make for resolve or you can even use GYROFlOW which also uses cameras gyro to stabilize footage its free as well

@@RoadReality no worries I’ve actually used both. The thing I like though about CB is the fact that it reads the lens data and uses that to make it’s adjustments. I am not sure how DR does it. I’m guessing it just crops it and applies like some kind of algorithm 🤷🏽♂️ CB just looks less “fake” if that makes sense
@RoadReality
5 ай бұрын
@@RealPivotTV Yep - you nailed it! Resolve uses the image itself and then zooms to crop off the rotations it applies. CB does the zoom and applies as much stabe as it can to not have any black spots, but it only does 2 of the 3 X/Y/Z adjustments, AFAIK.
