I think the GR86 is much easier to drive on the track and is set up to be fast and accessible. The ND *needs* to be driven ideally. That is not inherently a bad thing though, because it CAN be driven ideally. This is where there's room for debate, in my opinion. Overall though, and I think it largely comes down to straight line performance, the GR86 is objectively faster (which is generally the point of racing). I think the GR86 is perfect for a beginner just looking to have fun and the ND is a bit too much work - fun, but not satisfying. For people with more skill, I feel like that reverses, and the GR86 will be harder to improve with, where there would be tons of room to grow in the ND. After that, and I can't really speak on it since I'm not that skilled myself, it looks like professionals love and recommend both to everyone, especially since this is a dying breed of car. Both these cars are doing justice in preserving this type of sports car, and I think that's really cool: literally get them both.

hey jubbal, i was wondering if you could make a video on how to combat RTV issues with the gr86, i’ve been considering purchasing it but the RTV issues and recent oil pan issues have been concerning me

I would not worry about that at all. Unless you’re running super beefy tires and pulling crazy Gs on a daily, you wont run into the issue thats blowing engines. And I’m pretty sure in 90% of those cases where someone blew an engine, there was a money shift involved. To my knowledge, it’s not rtv that causes the blow, it’s drop in oil pressure unrelated to rtv

Gr86 seems like a better overall car😊

On track you still have to worry about the Engine blowing up and Toyota doing everything they can to void your warranty. If that wasn’t the case then it would be a different situation.

I think it depends on use case even though they’re overall very similar. Miata seems like a better weekend road car for canyon/mountain roads. GR86 is a bit more practical as an only car but from the impressions I’ve heard, feels a bit more composed and neutral, so there’s less drama when street driving. I’d say GR86 is the better track car aside from the RTV issue.

@@turner4243the RTV issue is not really the cause of the engine failures, more so issues with oiling. However I wouldnt discredit the 86/BRZ as an option given people tracked first gens for years, and many have seen over 100k miles by now. I know the NDs have issues with the transmission that everyone seems to sweep under the rug.

@@NapalmPineappleToyota have ‘Limited Availability’, of the GR86, have they stopped production while they deal with all the issues? What else was the oiling problem?

I'm glad you said gr86. Miatas are great but I've been getting tired of the miata worship in the car/ racing community for a while

Likewise. I think the Miata’s are great cars but far from the perfect sports car everyone makes them out to be. This is the 2nd generation of this car and has room to get better over time. 1st and 2nd gen Miata’s had a bunch of problems, that everyone likes to forget about…
