Although I agree with almost everything you said, package sets should be 5/5 for convenience. You said it yourself, the convenience us unrivalled. What could possibly be more convenient?

I’ve plumped for a package set as a complete beginner. When I get better and know more I can see going for second hand top tier equipment will be the best way to go. For now I’ll work with what I’ve got. Great video and very informative.

5 years ago when I was getting back into golf I bought a Tour Edge package set, about a year later switched out the irons for Callaway Apex irons then about two years ago got a g410 driver and hybrids that were all preowned, I think it comes down to knowing your game and what clubs work for you

I recently came back to golf having not played since I was 14 years old. 30 years ago. Having been pretty decent at the game at the time and having kept up an interest in the game since, I thought beginner clubs were not for me. I hated big, chunky club heads behind the ball. And my ego wouldn’t let me buy big cavity backed irons despite not having hit a ball in anger in 3 decades. So I went on Golfbidder and looked for something more advanced. I always thought Mizuno were cool so I went with them. MP52 irons. Small and slim like I was used to as a kid but a small cavity in the back. Bought the cheapest sand wedge I could find (Cleveland), a Yes putter (because they’re good value for what you get being discontinued), a Mizuno driver because I had no strong feelings on drivers and a Mizuno 3 wood because it matched. I bought a new Mizuno bag and hit the range with 12 clubs. I decided after a couple of months that a 5 wood (Taylormade) and a gap wedge (Wilson, because that’s what I used as a kid) were needed to round out the bag. So for a couple of hundred more than a package set I have a set that will not require an upgrade no matter how much I play. They’re a great set of clubs for any standard of golfer. Yes, they’re a bit unforgiving of you mishit it but when you hit it pure, they’re class. And you won’t stick out as a beginner with a set that looks like they belong to a proper golfer.

Something id like to know (that i appreciate Golfbidder arent going to talk about because they want you to buy used clubs) is although the technology is obviously better in more expensive, pre-owned clubs, what about how old they are. For example, when im looking at drivers or irons and they're from 2009, is it better to get a package set from 2023? Would the technology in a 'cheaper' set have overtaken something thats 10-15 years old?
