The two main advantages of the powerstacks are more output power and more charge/discharge cycles. They output power on par with the 6.0 XR batteries (the ones using 21700 cells, not 18650) and have (IIRC) twice the charge/discharge cycles of the traditional batteries. I grabbed a few of the 5.0 powerstacks and DCB1104 charges and I've very happy with them. In use, the increased size and weight isn't a huge deal. They're a good bit smaller than the 6.0 XR batteries and half a pound lighter, which is a closer battery in comparison. That said, I do wish dewalt would release a "middle" powerstack, like a 3.4Ah that's only a bit bigger than the 1.7PS. That would be a perfect battery for drills and impacts. I sold all my 1.7PS batteries; too short of run time. Excellent size though.

It’s interesting how DeWalt did a 2 battery plus a selected tool kit for $199 at both Lowe’s and Home Depot, but the Depot came out a week earlier I think and it has a 6amp and a 4 while Lowes has (2) 5 amp batteries. I fell for the Depot one, but I do kind of like having a 4 for small impacts (especially the 850) and cut off tool, etc, while using the 6 for larger tools, circular saws and my Dyson vacuums (with an adaptor).

Why didn't you do a running test to compare?

the age difference alone will not even make it a contest as batteries performance degradation from both age and usage frequency.

I was surprised how long the leaf blower lasts. It's just long enough to finish the job. (usually).

If the claim of more charging cycles is true then the power stacks are probably worth it
