15:00 The reason why PBS & BBC are more trustworthy (even for politics) is obvious, they are publically funded and can be objective whereas private companies take on the bias of their owners.

Regarding PBS, discussed around 16:00, as a media news outlet, it is PBS NewsHour, which is national, not local; so, I challenge Galen's theory about PBS being local.

FiveThirtyEight is an authoritative source of news and I always click on them. This episode was very good.

Another great episode! I think there was a bit more to be said on the trustworthiness of media poll, which is that they should've included a question that measured the respondents' actual media diet. I feel like there's a big difference between having heard of and occasionally read a source like the AP or Time magazine versus having that source be a major part of their consumption. As for the elections tomorrow, I will also be watching (and voting in) the primary for county executive of Allegheny County, PA. It's the 2nd-largest county in the state, containing most of the Pittsburgh metro area, at 1.25 million to Philadelphia's 1.6 million.

I’ve turned away from American news and found foreign sources like Germany’s DW. It’s in English, accessible on KZitem and there’s such a knee-jerk competitiveness and sensationalism in American news no matter the outlet. Also, American news seems mostly stuck on the same 5 domestic topics and I want to know what’s going on in the world more broadly. Maybe that’s the BBC’s advantage?

as a British person seeing the BBC so high on that list is a little worrying. its leadership are conservative partisan government appointees. it is not the reliable and unbiased news source it claims to be.

The average American barely knows what's going on in their city or state. We're mostly ignorant about almost anything with foreign countries. The only real reason I know about UK politics is because I listen to a channel on KZitem that's openly a Labour supporter.

To many of us Americans that sound funny because the version of BBC they air and show in America is usually very far left leaning.

I knew what was coming January 6, 2021. I follow Newsmax, OAN, FoxNEWS and I have been following Qanon much longer than the media has known of their existence. While watching the riot on 1/6/21 I started wondering who is BD@thescene? Oan and NewsMax had much better coverage. The FoxNEWS reporter was violently attacked on camera and had to run for his life. The crowd was much more pleasant to MSNBC and CNN than to FoxNEWS. These are thing that aren't being looked at: How did BD@thescene, OAN and NewsMax get the scoop? Why was the crowd so hostile to FoxNEWS? Why was the crowd more pleasant to MSNBC and CNN? I trust different sources to tell me different things. I trust NewsMax, OAN and FoxNEWS to learn what propaganda America is listening too. I watch MSNBC with an understanding that they are democratic homers. I get my news from many, many sources. I do not trust any of them.

Galen "Is it a bad thing to be skeptical of the news media?" The most important question - but it's not about left and right it's about advertising dollars. Sugar leads to arthritis. Makers of drugs for arthritis support CNN. CNN publishes article in support of eating sugar instead of sugar substitutes. Sugar is one of the factors in creating diabetes.

There is great irony in watching a biased, questionably trustworthy source of information debating the trustworthiness of sources of information.
