The young rich man was living under the Old Convenant. Christ had not been crucified yet. Under the New Convenant, Christ died so that we would not have to live by the law, nor does it require us giving up something to approach the Savior. Approaching Jesus requires our belief in Him, through His death, burial and resurrection (1Cor 15:1-4). John 3:16-18; 5:24; 3:36: 6:40; 1Joh 3:23; 5:2-3. For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast. Eph 2:8-9 The cost is after we are in Christ. It's not easy being a Christian (1Pet 4:18), there is a battle to be fought (1Tim 6:12), a talent to be used (Matt 25:14), an enemy to overcome (1Pet 5:8-9), a watch to maintain (Mark 13:37), a ministry to fulfill (Joh 3:14), and a prize to win (Phil 3:14). Giving up "something" under the Gospel of Grace makes salvation works-based. I love you, Alana and I love your channel but I differ in view on this video.
