I've always considered it a bit fuzzy exactly how many Iberian emperors there were; if Arcadius is considered from Hispania, Honorius (who was his full brother, son of Theodosius, and a catastrophically enthusiastic chicken owner) should also count. Marcus Aurelius was himself from a Spanish family, related to the new provincial aristocratic circles reaching Rome's highest echelons. We don't know where his father was born but his grandfather was born in Spain, the philosopher emperor was cousins with Hadrian himself. If it follows to make him at least half-hispanic then Commodus would surely follow too. Besides that a pretender or two might be worth addressing, but that is it. Regardless of this minutiae, another great video!
@RomabooRamblings

I went purely on the place of birth, using "the ancestry" leaves too much room for interpretation. I’ve seen other rankings and many people do get lazy after Severus so we appreciate it. Edit: Now I’ve seen the rest. Why do you think there is a flip of provincials vs capitol when it comes to Constantinople and Rome? Could it have something to do with how much more prominent Constantinople was later then Rome was in the early days. If this would take too much to answer, perhaps a future video would be to talk about how good emperors were made. As an easy example, someone is more likely to be a good emperor if they seized power as opposed to being installed.

The Roman emperors of Hispania were ironically the greatest impulse of Hispania as a province. Trajan ordered the reform of the Tower of Hercules (one of the greatest Roman architecture works) in Galicia and together with Hadrian, he gave Betica (Andalucia) support, both financing works and supporting the region with tax advantages, and Hadrian revitalizing the image of Hercules Gaditanus. After two centuries forgotten (mostly because the local patricians supported the wrong bands in the civil wars), when Theodosius came into power (at the time that the pope was also an Hispanic, Damasus I), he filled the Castilian plateau (where he came from) with villas and giant mosaics (for his supporters and family members) and helped to revitalize Hispania as a whole, before Visigothics took the region for themselves while taking advantage of the cultural renaissance brought by Theodosius to the region (people like Paulus Orosius, Isidore of Seville, Leander of Seville, Eugenius the Younger, etc., would not have existed without Theodosius). It's interesting how Rome was a lobby state, if you didn't have generals, senators, emperors or other power groups working as a lobby for your province, a fate similar to that of Britannia, Morocco or Dacia awaited you.

I am curious if we are underestimating emperors “who did nothing” how do we know that? For instance, if you had a president of a country who was in charge 8 years and the GDP rise like 6% a year, and life improved, and no wars happened, for the average person this time might have seemed like a succusss. There might have been a lot of activity, politics, military alliances, and diplomacy to keep the country stable, peaceful, and prosperous. Yet would a historian say “nothing was happening” during that time? Because there were no wars, and no victory columns of the emperor praising himself? If an emperor ruled a long time and the empire was stable and peaceful are we able to judge that if we focus on wars? Do we give credit to an emperor for not creating wars? For instance many Chinese emperors were able to keep the mongols and Huns at bay by successfully using diplomacy to keep them disunited. Could there have been an emperor who kept barbrians and Persians at bay by doing the same thing but we don’t recognize the achievements in this regard?

I don't think succession should have counted, honestly it was mostly a crapshoot which of your kids survived, and if they were shit or not. Look at Marcus Aurelius all his kids died young, except one, and the remaining one was a disappointment. Plus, succession was easier in more stable times in Roman history. It seems like something outside of their control, and shouldn't really be counted against them.
