Yep the Mack MP8 is a Volvo power plant. And in all honesty they are a fine powerplant. People make a big thing about the problems they have with injector cups. And yes they do go wrong, but Cummins also suffer from the same problem. As for Paccar I am very biased, they are an excellent power plant and my first choice when looking for a new truck. As for the software you definitely can get the software a lot cheaper now, as it is widely advertised through online websites. Obviously it is not from Paccar but it is a perfect copy. ( Only available from European websites I believe ). Keep up the good work Ryan best Truck website on KZitem .

Oil change and fuel filter change every 20k. Just had to delete it due to the DOC pressure sensor, running fine so far. Having a good mechanic that knows your engine is a plus. Also change your coolant every year to prevent rust around the cylinder liners that a plus to. I’m running a 2019 Mack Anthem with the MP8. It has 426,000 on it. It’s been a good engine. My employer runs all Mack’s with this power plant with minimal problems. Last employer I ran for had me in a KW 680 with the X15. It was pretty good engine for the most part. It had its issues. Freightliner I ran rarely but ran one when my KW was in for a service and it left me sit. Just completely shut down like I turned off the key.

I take umbrige that you mentioned Detroit Seies 60 but did not mention my engine: Commins N14 Celect Plus. My thoughts: Macks are slow, Deries 60s are good when running empty, and Volvos are good when bobtailing. Caterpillars are strong but are very, very, very, thirsty. Hence, I chose Cummins N14 so that I get decent fuel mileage and I do not lose speed going up most mid-western hills; Eaton 13-speed assists in this.

This is 1973 and the store is across the street from what was the truck rental place the world trade bombers rented the truck from that blew up the WRC the first time. Many don’t remember that one in the 1990’s.. One of the owners was the mechanic and I asked for help understanding how to fix regulators and the air compressor while he was doing the repairs. He said sure and was happy to teach. The first rule he told me as a mechanic? Never buy an International Engine! You are not mentioning the ultimate engine, Scania DS16! up to 3700 Nm or 2730 ft-lb torq and whopping 770 ponies and those will last. Just do a preventive crank and timing gears bearing job at half a million miles and you're good to go for another one. Single heads so you can change just one piston/sleeve if needed without tearing down whole engine. Some issues with exhaust manifolds on extreme use but those are easy replaces. Personal I have 3 truck 2 freightliner first is a 2004 columbia with a mbe4000 with 978k the other is 2013 cascadia with dd13 with 740k, and 3 is a 2014 386 peterbilt. with only 189k right now am rebuilding the dd13 engine believe it or not the best I have is the mbe400 I think is the best engine in the time I own it for 10 plus year never had any esue only change the water pump and injector cup I think in my opinión the best the other 2 including 386 peterbilt I had it in the dealer for more than 6 month nightmare. My conclusion mbe4000 my choice think put one on my cascadia ✌️

I think you need to look at the A26 motors a little bit better. They are good motors, I have plenty of the min the fleet and they seem to be more reliable than the cummins in some of the internationals or KWs.

the a26 is the newest variant of the maxxforce engines so it has all the upgrades that make the old versians i.e maxxforce and n13 breakdown so much but like he said just keep an eye on them, i got to drive one with the a26 and i seems to be a smoother running engine than the original maxxforce and the n13

In my opinion the X-15 performance series has never let me down yet. I'm pulling wood chips at 47,500 Kg from north Idaho to Castlegar, B.C. Pulling those 9% grades is a non-issue.

After doing some research, Cummins is the only American engine left. The Detroit is a Mercedes engine The PACCAR MX-13 is a DAF engine The Mack MP8 is just a red Volvo engine The international A26 is a MAN engine They’re all designed for cab overs not conventional trucks like we use here.

Hey Ryan, I need a little help here, I own 2 trucks: a KW t600 from 1999 with a Detroit Serie 60 engine and a Kenworth t680 2021 with a Cummins X15, which of the two systems from Diesel Laptops ( if any) would be better in my case: Cojali or Texa? I’ll appreciate your quality point of view.

Hey thank you for your videos and I wish you can explain a little bit more about the dd15 good and bad things about it to replace or change if you get one of those
