One troublesome thing that eventually goes away is thinking about meals as entertainment or quick pleasure fixes. You start looking at meals as refueling events and look forward to them for how they make you feel afterwards, not simply pleasure-for-the-moment events. You don't think about "snacks" between meals but gradually look forward to the meal for what it does for you between meals. Not that you don't get hungry thinking about that delicious beef, of course - I'll never get bored eating carnivore because I no longer eat for entertainment fixes...

Third attempt at carnivore and this time it's working for me. My own particular version, plus the things it's healed for me as follows, as briefly as possible... I eat mainly beef, often organic or certified animal welfare, but doesn't need to be. Lamb is fine but doesn't appeal very often. I can eat fatty pork and bacon, even if it has a little sugar. Chicken doesn't appeal, if I eat it I eat wings with skin on or I put thighs or leg meat in some bone broth but strain the meat out and give it to my cats. I like lamb and beef liver so I have that occasionally. I eat fresh sardines and mussels and seafood occasionally because they are landed daily half an hour from where I live. Salmon occasionally when it's discounted because I like it. I smother it in butter. I failed twice before because of chronic fatigue, depression, gut issues that I got from egg whites. Since excluding them I'm thriving and eating much more. I was drawn in by the simplicity of BBBE but the egg whites did a number on me. I do not want to lose any more weight and can eat much more and hit protein targets easily now I'm excluding egg whites. ( nearly 60 year old female trying to avoid sarcopenia, 5ft 7in 123lbs ). I include a little dairy, not every day, usually a bit of kefir, grass fed, long, traditional fermentation and an ounce of hard cheese now and then. Never milk, raw dairy illegal here, double / heavy cream too sweet and sparks cravings. Had an odd craving for broccoli and Brussels sprouts two months in twice now so had some and didn't need or want any after that. Craved something sharp a couple of times so had a teaspoon of lemon juice in some sparkling water a couple of times and then that craving disappeared too. Have healed chronic fatigue, brain fog, gut issues, hormonal imbalance, tinnitus, headaches, collapsing knee joint, inflammation, signs of insulin resistance, repeated candida, aches and pains and have improved dental health, fast-growing nails and hair, flat stomach, vastly increased strength and energy, body decomposition, floaters and dry eyes gone, dry skin gone, depression, anxiety, social anxiety and mood disorders all gone. Probably other things I can't even remember right now.

Hey Max, I really enjoy your content. I have been suffering from inflammation in my back for years. I have been building log homes for the past 25 years. It is a very physical job. We are blessed to own a farm and raise our own beef, lamb and chickens. We mainly follow the Weston A. Price diet which I would say is 80% carnivore, some veg, and fermented diary for me. My wife has a very large vegetable garden (all organic) and we have organic fruit orchards. I recently went back to strict carnivore 1 week ago, and experienced immediate back pain relief. However, the last two mornings I have been waking up with the back pain again. I am eating mainly steak with grass fed butter, and eggs. I consume 2 cups of coffee each day with heavy cream. Our dairy is our own, we have a Jersey cow and we consume it raw. I am considering doing a long term fast to see if I can resolve my back pain. I probably need to ditch the coffee and just do three Lion diet. Thoughts?

In the USA not all beef is grass-fed. Most of what is in the grocery store is at least grain-finished. You have to go to a special section of the meat dept. to find packages that are clearly labeled "grass fed" and that is always more expensive and the variety is often limited. Lamb, by definition, is always grass-fed. I might add that a lot of the grass fed ground meat I buy is labeled from New Zealand.

I just glanced at your introductory video and saw problems. - Innuits' lifespan is 10 years shorter than Canadian. - There is a huge diversity in human circumstances/genetics and as a result most certainly in dietary needs. I am pretty sure the Scandinavians' needs in the middle of their winters are different from that of Africans in the middle of their summer. - I don't know exactly what lions' needs are, but I am pretty sure that their smaller carnivorous siblings SEARCH for grass or devour your house plants, etc. Life is not as simple as 5 year old think

If you are carnivore or only eating the lion diet, is there vitamins that needs to be taken bc we dont get nutrients from other foods? How often do you eat in a day on the luin diet? Also, i have high cholesterol. Everything is bad on my labs. I am 54, 5'9" and 140 lbs so im not overweight. I have to say, I'm scared to do this but i suffer from brain fog and some anxiety and depression that tries me. Cant sleep. I have other heath issues with my bladder, carotidynia, and thyroid. I guess try to find a huge chunk of beef and cut steaks out of it might be the cheapest or even buying half a cow or something among those lines lol but really it is so impossible here in Hungary where I live there is only ground beef from the store which is often quite disgusting, other than that I see steaks costing way too much. I don't even focus on getting beef, i gave it up now - the diet still rocks with the monogastrics.

Get a huge chest freezer and buy in bulk on sale, or get a quarter/half/whole cow. Both are initial investments though just because of the freezer necessity, and the latter may end up not even that much cheaper, just usually better quality. But the sad-but-true answer is... You don't. You accept the fact that it's expensive. Because frankly, it should be. Food, water and shelter are the most basic needs, that's a non-negotiable cost. Sucks when You truly can't afford it, but most people can, they just prioritize other things.

Aussie accents are cool but your "better" sounds like "bitter" . LOL. Lion diet is great but IMO unless you have some auto-immune disease it is really hard to sustain and make it a lifestyle. I did it for a few months and hit my target weight loss. I'm fit and lift weights regularly so there was no medical need for me to continue it . I use the carnivore diet as a tool to achieve my target weight loss then I slowly ween myself off the carnivore diet. My purpose is to loose some belly/body fat and get shredded. It is true that once you start eating carbs your brain/body will go nuts with pleasure. Those dopamine pathways will explode like fireworks on the 4th of July. You will need to exhibit some self control or you will quickly gain that weight back.. I do the all inclusive carnivore. All meat , eggs, cream/milk but no fruits or honey. Beef is the most satiating compared to pork, chicken or seafood. Good luck to everyone doing carnivore.
