Great episode idea!! I've wanted to do exactly this for my own experimentation, lining up a homemade 34 zombie up against a beachbum/hamilton blend. I only recently had the rum blend on it's own, and have yet to get my hands on a bottle to make one, but I would imagine it's a killer combo of flavor, as you describe here. Also! I love that idea of using grapefruit bitters to help tilt red grapefruit into the flavor direction of white grapefruit, definitely going to do that myself. Cheers, Ann!!

Thanks so much. I love these kind of experiments. Definitely a fun one to do. I live in a control state so I had to order my bottle. But it's great in a Mai Tai and pretty much anything that calls for a blend of rums actually. I live on the i5 corridor and still can't get great citrus choices. But that bitters trick really does work. Always appreciate your feedback my friend. Mahalo and have a wonderful weekend.

The 1934 zombie has 4.5oz of rum! The Hamilton blend is a blend of rums from Jamaica, Guyana, and Trinidad, but that’s all we know. If you want an even simpler version that’s also well balanced, I recommend checking out the Simplified Zombie by Berry.
@TheHomeBartenderwithAnn
2 жыл бұрын
Weelllll, I believe it’s 4 oz all together of rum with that Falernum bringing in the .5 oz of further alcohol. I’m not sad that they have not released the exact actual rums they have used for the blend. I love that I don’t have to source them myself. 😜I have tried the Simplified version. Do like the Don Q in there or are you using something else? I was thinking the Flor De Cana 4 yr. I appreciate the convo, thanks for commenting for sure! Cheers!
@MixingUpTiki
2 жыл бұрын
@@TheHomeBartenderwithAnn you’re right. It is 4oz, but even still. It’s a doozy. For the Simplified version I’ll go with something like 1oz Coruba and 1/2oz Hamilton 151. I know the recipe says Puerto Rican 151, and Iv tried it with that, but like it better with an overproof demerara.
