And all those arguments could have been (and were) made about the iPad when it came out: there were already better tablets out there, but they just weren't marketed as heavily are branded as strongly. This certainly has the potential to catch on, not because it's new or innovative, but because of its marketing.

Its nice, but I don't like the idea of having someone delivering my groceries and living it on a shelf in a hallway or foyer. I would be afraid that someone would steal my stuff.

So your point is that "a handful of people [who] waste money on unnecessary junk" is actually a DAMN LOT of people who waste money on unnecessary junk... and they do it because of marketing and little else. Marketing... you scary.

Seems like a system designed for people who are both rich & silly. Too many expensive separate devices: per-bottle wine coolers, basket for bread, basket for fruit, basket for this, basket for that, each at a premium. "A customisable system that grows with" an learned indifference to your bank-statements. Oh let the little people worry about that, dah-ling.
