Thanks Eric! This whisky is not as well known as some of the other super star whiskies we review so I am happy to see you make that comment on this review. Cheers!

Another epic bottle. Really nice looking color for such a young whisky. I totally agree. Nice/Epic bottles need to be visited once in awhile to really appreciate and enjoy. Another great review guys.

Epic stuff as usual! I think you listed every single tasting note there is. If I did this on my channel I would need to use size 0.1 font to fit it all in haha. Can't wait to see how the Samaroli stacks up to this. Cheers guys!

Pure Porn if I may say....don t know this one but the 2 or 3 I ve tasted from this era were really out of this world...Enjoy it, guys. PS I can assure you that for some of the UK 100 Proof at 57 % (UK Proof abv) around late 1990s were diluted with older stuff (see my website) this was directly confirmed in a published Frank MacHardy on my ws as well, so its not a rumour.

@@GregsWhiskyGuide That is right. We have been lucky to try many of those 57% bottlings you are referring to.

Sounds like we need to go Samaroli/ other Italian Independent bottler hunting in Italia. Let’s book a trip for next summer. My guess is a lot of these would be in the south if there’s truth to the fact that Samaroli was bottling for the mob.

It’s crazy. They charge over 10k in shops there now for this bottle. But I’m always down to go to Italy. Singapore is the place to surprisingly to try these gems.

This is the reason why nowadays I restrict myself to hunt down the old goodies. Sound like a real whisky elixir. You guys have a pretty obvious taste, which is a good thing anyways, but I would be really curious about that what do you think about bottles like a Glen Ord 30 or a Linlithgow 1973 (30yo). Both known to be great representation of the bourbon maturation, at unusually high abv. From a more conservative point of view, the same applies for Balblair 1983 and 1975, but at 46%.
@maltreviews

Have not tried those but would def like to. Balblair 1983 is very good but I wouldn't say its epic. Def worth its original price.
@thedrinking_ewok

Both of them are stunning. id say the linlithgow 30yo is the better option but also quite abit more pricey. it has the classic industrial grassy austurity you would expect from the st magdalene profile but with amazing lemon jams

I was about to say that this bottle must be kind overrated but 1960's distillate means interesting+.. Breathing in the bottle is a must. It's obvious that Springbank old style is nothing like today. I have a few gems but you do have to keep it enjoyable. Thanks guys. WT

I assure you it is not overrated. It has attracted the fame for good reason as most other Springbanks. Correct, springbank is still very good of course but very different in style. Cheers bud!
