White Bluffs, also known as Hanford Reach is one of the most striking areas of Washington state. High desert and rolling dunes rise away from the mighty Columbia River, across the water from the reactors on the Hanford campus, relics of World War II.
This is a beautiful area well worth the visit. With views of the rolling river, expansive skies, desert shrub and mountains of sand, along with plentiful and diverse wildlife, this is one of the more unique scenery in Washington.
Details:
- 7 miles round trip loop hike
- 500 feet elevation gain
- No parking pass needed
- It is a desert area so I highly recommend an early start to the hike especially in the summer months!
