Is this near Foleyet? It looks like the Groundhog River. Am I right? I've seen lots of moose on that Chapleau-Timmins stretch but never a white one. To see two like this is extremely rare. Nice.

I agree they are very majestic and beautiful, I can see why sims125 would say Poor Thing: the moose sticks out like a stop light and I would imagine an easy target for hunters. He looks like he's escaped so far! Awesome video!

From what I know, these moose are protected. They are technically not Albino, as they do not have red eyes. There have also been some spotted that have brown speckling. They just have a genetic glitch, making them white. I live in Timmins :D

Moose eyes have no pigment, if they did, they'd reflect in a vehicle's headlights. Which explains why there are so many night time vehicular collisions with moose.

@hawkzy1987 Short answer: No. Long answer: The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Act, 1997, prohibits the hunting of moose that are over 50 per cent white coloured in Wildlife Management Units 30 and 31, an area near Timmins, Chapleau and Foleyet. This regulation does not affect the availability of moose validation tags for resident and non-resident hunters.

@kalisstanmark you can shoot them anywhere i am pretty sure. I was drawn for a moose permit and got one in the 2010 Vt Moose season. The day before i shot mine a 12-15 year old girl got one and it was an albino one. There are two up here near Canaan VT, now only one. I wish there were more, but as you said the elements.

@mattymatt40 the reason you don't see very many is because they don't blend in and they become easy targets for predators. At least they got it easy in the winter :P

First they are not Albinos, their eyes are not pink and they dont lack color pigmintation. They can be found in NE Ontario along the Highway 101 corridor between Kenogaming road and Folyet road. In the WMU (hunting area) 30 and 31 it is illegal to shoot one that in more than 50% white. This video location is easy to identify because of the striking of the metal guard rail and the speeding vechile,,, Groundhog River bridge on the 101.

Hi Donyboy, I searched for this moose and never found him, this is an omen from our maker, you are lucky, I would consider this an honour to spot this animal, hope nobody shot this moose, do you know if their is a law against shooting special moose like this, seems a shame if someone just killed it for fun, I used to live near Kirkland, have you went back looking since then, Jim
