To be correct, koreans do have a lot of “sakura trees” also know as a cherry blossom tree. The art style is a bit more japanese but definitely one of the shittiest drawings of a cherry blossom i have seen. Same thing with the futon. Majority of korean households still sleep on the floor which futons are a more comfortable approach in korea. The floors is almost nonexistent but there are still a lot of doors like that. But of course, that is more a Japanese style door than a korean version. These architectures designs will most likely be in hanoks or choga houses in korea. But like you said, it has a more japanese aesthetic than korean. And not a lot of people live in hanoks or chogas anymore. Apartments are now the norm in korea

For the last part with article, I believe one of the issues is that Americans casting actors can''t hold Asians (or Asian-Americans) to white beauty standards. Therefore, they make selections based on any number of other things. But actual Asian people, especially outside of the US, can and DO apply Asian beauty standards to these actors. There is a similar disconnect in Black communities as well. There is a "same face" issue where a lot of the more predominant African-American actors have very similar appearances in white Hollywood. One discussion that's easily found online is the "Skinny nearly white-passing mixed girl with long curly hair" archetype that seems to be growing. The biggest issue is that there is a lack of diversity within these production teams.
@thathumanbeingnobody3468

also to add, they usually have a very dark and ethic african girl that make they're token black girls for years (e.g lupita nyong'o, letitia wright,Danai Gurira, Viola Davis) and although they aren't biggest actress, this is usually the amount of representation we get in the media but i don't have a problem with that cause they are all beautiful and just great actress but i wish we got to see more child actor around the age of 15-28 for younger audience cause they usually act in more dramatic movie and we need more black representative in rom coms and comedy Also one thing, that article is disgusting, your pretty much saying a person that doesn't fit your standards doesn't deserve a role in a movie? be happy that they aren't some stock character of a ninja, sexy asian girl, innocent girl and ghetto chinese guy and have role that portray your country in a good light, like crazy rich asian and farewell

Imo, they are looking for the most “exotic” looking asian (if that made sense?) the asian that looks the most asian in their opinions. Of course the more tradiitionally beautiful actors in their own culture’s beauty standard doesn’t look “asian enough” for hollywood. For example song hyekyo got beautiful double eyelids and a pretty pale skin. She’s beautiful in korean beauty standards, but hollywood most likely thinks she doesn’t look “asian enough”. :/

While I'm not defending the movie in any way. I do want to point out that the movie is an anthology where each story is different characters with the same actors. So basically the characters change every 45 minutes but the same actors play all the rolls. If you've seen American Horror Story, it's like that. Different characters same actors every season. I still think it's disgusting what they did, and they should have just cast Asian actors and revealed which "actor" they were supposed to represent throughout the movie.

The cloud atlas “Asian” makeup looks like when you can fully customize your character in games and just make horrible unhuman looking people. It makes me so sad to see the yellow face in Hollywood because these directors are willing to spend more money on prosthetics and makeup to make a white person look Asian rather than just saving all that time and money by casting an actual Asian actor! There are so many talented and beautiful Asian actors who aren’t given the opportunities they deserve as well as being unable to provide more representation in western media. I hope that soon the stereotypes, yellow face and whitewashing in Hollywood will no longer be so prevalent in movies and tv shows. I don’t want that Caucasian to be my representation!

I'm an asian living in Spain atm and when Parasite film came to the theatres, the promotional photos had ALL the eyes censured with a black bar just because if people saw the were asian, they wouldn't come and watch the film.
@melanierose4140

That's exactly what they look like! You put it into words perfectly. I've thought that a lot of this comes from the directors only wanting to cast well known famous actors in the roles. But a lot of it feels very deliberate. There aren't many famous Asian actors in the U.S. We have a problem of beating a dead horse on old IPs and many movies only making money because of their actors, in the U.S. at least. When you only cast well known actors it's hard for knew people to get into the spotlight, especially minorities. I really hope that this problem in modern day isn't mostly due to racism. I don't know much at all about the film industry, so I can only speculate at best. More and more people are becoming aware of this and are upset by it, so I think directors will and are slowly listening. Hopefully, change will take place sooner and faster than later. I'm interested to know what anyone thinks about this!

It's perfectly acceptable to appreciate/have interest in Asian culture. I'll give someone who I think is a pretty good example: Yohio. Yohio is a Swedish singer whose aesthetic, music, and MVs are very anime-based. He speaks Swedish, English, and Japanese, and he has songs in all three of those languages. He also looks VERY anime-like. But not in a "trying to be Japanese" way, more of a "looking like an anime character" kind of thing. I see him as a person who is very interested in Japanese culture, but isn't trying to be Japanese himself. If you're interested in Asian culture, just try to appreciate it instead of trying to BE it.

My main issue with people claiming to be transracial is that they always seem to discover their love for these features *after* immersing themselves in a foreign culture. They fetishize the people they claim to love so much to the point where they think that changing into one of them is the ultimate form of flattery. Just because you idolize a specific group does not mean that you should go to these measures to be a part of their world.

Hi again, same nurse from the Bright Occular video from before; The eyelid surgery tends to also be very disruptive towards the regular blinking mechanism; the skin that gets pulled and filled tends to droop over time, this is why his eyelid looks weirdly folded over and the inner part of his eye is falling down. After some time the skin will want to return to a relaxed state, essentially getting the issue of overly heavy eyelids on monolids with great age at the grand age of 25 or so.

That's pretty sad. I have a friend who decided she wanna marry a Korean guy and she's into k-pop. I explained to her that not all Koreans look like that and that k-pop is not an accurate representation of the Korean culture (actually k-pop sounds a bit western and features a lot of English lyrics which explains their Western success). And I think her reasoning behind her "love" for the Koreans is pretty shallow. It is also sad how a racist, inaccurate, and stereotypical representation of Asians is able to convert the masses' opinion on them. Thinking back to the days where Hollywood convinced the West that Asians are not worth dating (which still continues to this day unless you're Korean) and then how introduction to k-pop normalized fetishization of Koreans even further which is another underlying form of racism. It just makes you see how little it takes to misrepresent a minority and that at any moment those same fetishists could turn their backs on the people who used to worship. This whole inorganic lust for Asians shows how easily swayed we are like a herd of sheep. Like how my friend suddenly realized that Koreans indeed can look attractive (while she disregards the other nationalities).

i don’t agree that Hollywood purposely casts ‘ugly’ Asian actors, I think the way that was put was harsh. however I agree that perhaps the actors do not accurately represent the culture/country they are playing since the actors are usually quite Americanised and therefore have little connection to the culture/beauty standards and just the vibe in general if that makes sense?? that’s why when people from the country the Asian actor is trying to represent view the movie, they might be kinda confused or offended because it doesn’t accurately represent them as a collective. for example the China interview, of course the guy was not ugly but perhaps in the Chinese peoples’ eyes, since their culture has a very high beauty standard specific to China they felt no connection to the role he was playing. ??

Iffy. Off.

The last part about hollywood choosing "ugly" asian/Indian actors and actresses. I've seen that so much online in comments and videos. Like, how insulting that you can't represent your ethnicity in a movie or show because your too "ugly" by their standards. All those people were gorgeous and they are very talented. I've seen this especially with models. Models now a days are chosen for their unique traits not as a representative goal of beauty for all people to emulate. For example, Winnie Harlow. She is a famous model and is beautiful, and was chosen because of her unique skin vitiligo pattern. She isn't a representative of all black women, but I'm not gonna take away her right as a black woman to be popular. I think it is because the attractive look in asian countries like korea, china or india, are like what she said before about cheek bones. Plastic surgery, skin whitening, etc and getting a look very pleasing to the homogenous society.
