I have one of these in our school garden! I have a hard time telling when they're ripe, too, but they make good fig preserves...

I just harvested my 2nd fig off my texas everbearing. I thought the same thing, brown sugar. I find these a little harder to tell when they are ripe b/c they don't seem to droop over like other figs, they are still pretty upright, but I waited until it has some small splits in the skin and was pretty soft all the way around the neck and it seemed perfect.

Hey Man- thanks for the video! So what’s the primary characteristic of this variety of tree- that it keeps producing figs all year long? Are these texas everbearing the only variety that will produce a breba as well as the main crop, is that why it’s called everbearing? I’m So confused, if been trying to find an answer to this- no but no luck so far . Hope u can help me. Are there other varieties that do this? Thanks

I believe most trees will be "everbearing" in a warm climate. I don't find this variety to be different than most in that regard.
