Incident Date: 9/10/24
Incident Time: 5:44pm
Incident Location: Shelton CT
Incident Nature: Structure Fire/2nd Alarm
Incident Details:
At 5:44 p.m., Shelton Fire Department was dispatched to Whitewood Dr for the reported structure fire. Dispatch noted that they had received a first party caller reporting a fire in the house. Dispatch then notified incoming units that they were getting numerous calls on the fire and that it was a no hydrant area. Do the numerous calls and no hydrants in the area a Monroe tanker was started. FD-502 was the first on scene finding a 1 and a half story raised ranch with heavy fire showing from the Charlie side and called for the working fire. 502 then reported approximately 30% of the house being invalid with heavy fire and called for a 2nd alarm as well as a tanker task force sending multiple mutual aid companies to the scene. Shelton Car's 1 and 5 arrived shortly after, with Car-1 taking command of the fire and Car-5 taking command of water supply. Fire crews worked to place several attack lines into operation 1 being a 2 and a half being pulled to the rear of the house and a 1 and 3 quarter being stretched into the home. Crews also conducted roof operations for ventilation as well as to ensure the fire did not spread throughout the attic. Trumbull's Nicholas and Derby Fire Department were also sent to the scene after conducting Station Coverage to help with suppression and overhaul. After about 45 minutes, the fire was placed under control. Extensive overhaul opportunities followed after lasting nearly 2 additional hours. No injuries were reported, and the Shelton Fire Marshal's office is investigating the cause of the fire.
