She never should have been on tour. She had lost "The Voice". Smoking crack and cigarettes don't exactly help maintain the vocal chords or the necessary lung function that she previously had and which enabled her to reach those high notes. She was quite ill with heart disease and emphysema, (COPD), at the time of this tour. There is no way, at this point in her life, that Whitney could sing as she did in the 1980's and 1990's. This is hard to watch, (as are most of the other videos of her last 10 years), because at one time, her voice was perfection and totally untouchable. She did, though, leave us with innumerable memorable performances. This, sadly, is not one of them.

Shortly after Whitney's death, Chaka Khan said Whitney needed to have throat surgery, but Whitney refused. I also wonder if she might have had a better time on this tour had she shifted her singing style to make it softer and lifted above the vocal cords. Think Janet Jackson, Aaliyah, or Ciara. That kind of singing would not have been natural for Whitney, who was a natural belter, but she might have fared better with it during this tour.

Exactly. I don’t care how desperate Whitney and her promoters were for cash, there was no reason for her to do the tour. Her voice was nowhere near what is was, even by the early 2000’s. As for the rest of the comments section: If any of these so-called “fans”, went to one of her tours, and she sounded like that, you’d be angry, too, and demanding your money back. Nobody at the concert was saying; “I’m just happy to see Whitney!” That’s a ridiculous cop-out. Stop making excuses. Don’t go around pointing fingers at the paying customers. You don’t pay top dollar for that kind of performance. Period.

Laura Andrade, no, she shouldn't have gone on tour, though god knows those people were ugly in their anger, anyone who is mature and went to the concert, would have felt that disappointment of course, though looking at her struggling, I would have walked out because of that - I went to a show of a childhood singer I loved, and her behavior was just off and finally her drummer stopped playing and put his kit away and left. She kept on singing, while I cried..they are people and maybe they are told they shouldn't perform, whatever, they are not machines they are human beings.

1st off you were never really a fan if you expected her voice to sound perfect. Not to mention she was doing a tour. With that said if you really were a Whitney supporter you would have stayed for the LOVE, instead you walked away & that's your loss!

+My Love Hope you finish reading this before jumping to conclusions. Empathy is important, but so is maturity and respect for other people on a professional level. I think you misunderstood some of her audience. They are not angry because of Whitney being sick, but the display of carelessness makes you question the love she has for her fans. Yes, she may be doing her "best", but its the same if I was drunk but say I can still drive home safely. Is that fair? If I knew I had shortcomings, yet chose to do the tour. Do you have kids? You show your love to your kids, but you can walk out on them when they act ignorant. Doesn't mean you stop loving them, but its to show you don't support that type of behavior.

"Never really a fan if you expected her voice to sound perfect".. What was it that made people her fans? It was her voice. They are fans of her music. People have a right to the expectation that a performer will ... perform. Thats the agreement when a ticket is sold and purchased. If you wanted fans to come out and just be around her for support, do an autograph signing event, or charge a special "fan appreciation" rate for the concert. Don't charge top dollar when u know the performer will b at depleted strength. That's greed. These fans were entitled to be angry.

People are saying that if they left a negative comment about Whitney's performance that they couldn't have been real fans of hers. If I paid $165 to see Whitney perform and she was this big of a mess I don't give a shit how big she was back in the day I paid $165 and I want to see at least a performer who is not strung out on drugs. She was a disgrace and her manager never should have let her go out onstage looking and sounding like that.

How long did people think she was going to be able to hit those notes? She should have done an orchestra tour. Keep it low key sit thru the set and sing. She was never really a dancer anyway. I do think a stripped down maybe acoustic show would have been perfect for her. When you’re on top for that long and the next batch comes rolling in and you’re just sliding down the ladder of success has to hard on anyone. Male, female, actor singer. It’s hard to give up those glory days. #QUARANTINE2021

Call a rat a rat. I loved Whitney but at the end of the day if you don’t take care of yourself, your voice, your health, your mind will deteriorate. Just like police brutality people don’t want to admit the truth. Whitney had a god given talent but she chose the devils path. The lord helps those who help themselves. Waddya Tawkin She grew up in the midst of the crack epidemic of the 1970s - 1980s. Her brothers introduced her to drugs at a young age. She also had to deal with childhood sexual abuse. I'm not saying this excuses the more damaging elements of her addiction (the devastating effect it had upon Bobby Kristina being the most tragic) but it might explain it.
